Even better, the ultra-rare LEAF Nismo RC, with only six examples ever made, shows itself to us during our recent trip to witness the very first Tokyo E-Prix. Dressed in Sakura livery (the same uniform the Nissan e-4ORCE 04 Formula E car is wearing), three of them were standing while waiting for their exhibition lap at the makeshift circuit around Tokyo Big Sight. And boy, do they look stunning?
Under the sleek carbon-fiber skin lies a dual-electric motor setup, boasting a staggering 322 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque. These figures catapult the LEAF Nismo RC from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 3.4 seconds, a leap that’s 50 percent quicker than its predecessor. This isn’t just progress; it’s a seismic shift in performance.
“Dreams of electric speed and power are no longer confined to the realm of fantasy,” proclaimed Daniele Schillaci, Nissan’s Executive VP, and champion of electric mobility, during the LEAF Nismo RC’s launch in 2018.
