The Department of Public Works and Highways is eyeing to open the northbound lane of Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension in the second quarter of the year, according to Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar.
“We are targeting completion of the northbound segment second quarter of this year while the southbound segment is being fast-tracked for delivery on September as part of our goal,” Villar said.
The DPWH official said that with the completion of the three-lane Skyway Extension that connects the elevated Skyway to South Luzon Expressway through the Alabang Viaduct, motorists going to Cavite, Laguna and other parts of Southern Luzon would soon experience faster trips.
He said that the 3.9-kilometer Sucat-Alabang Skyway Extension Project could provide convenient travel to motorists who will be diverted from the at-grade segment of the Skyway to the elevated link.
“With 61% of the project already complete, travel time from the Skyway main line toll plaza in Sucat, Paranaque to Susana Heights in SLEX will soon be reduced by around 50%, greatly easing the traffic situation for those who are going home to the provinces,” Villar said.
He also said that the project includes widening of the Skyway Alabang Toll Plaza to accommodate more motorists both from northbound and southbound directions.
