VinFast MPV 7 is setting the standard for the local battery electric MPV segment after scoring 22% savings versus ICE counterparts and other electric seven-seater models based on the brand’s Total Cost of Ownership Calculator.
The Philippine MPV market remains a competitive space, with seven-seater models competing for buyers who prioritize practicality, space, and value for money. Based on data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), the AUV and MPV segment recorded 43,706 units in sales from January to July 2026, underscoring sustained demand for practical family-oriented vehicles even as the broader automotive market faced a year-on-year slowdown. As more brands expand their offerings in this segment, ownership costs are becoming an important consideration beyond the initial purchase price.
Launched in August, VinFast’s web-based Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Calculator is a tool that estimates the overall cost of owning a vehicle by factoring in key expenses over a set period. Total cost of ownership offers another way to assess the long-term value of a seven-seater. For the MPV 7, this provides a basis for examining how an electric powertrain can affect the cost of everyday family mobility.
MPV 7 Can Save Families Nearly ₱413K Over Three Years
Factoring in key vehicle ownership expenses such as fuel, energy expenses, maintenance and financing, VinFast’s web-based TCO calculator projects ₱412,981 or 22% savings over a three-year period.
A family driving 1,000 km per month over a three-year ownership period would spend an estimated ₱1,502,167 to own an MPV 7 with the battery included, compared with ₱1,915,148 for a common ICE vehicle..
And that figure is almost exactly one year’s average household income in the Philippines, according to the latest Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES).
Beyond day-to-day energy and maintenance costs, the projected savings is made possible by VinFast’s first-of-its-kind ownership programs designed to help manage the longer-term costs of EV ownership. The number one BEV brand’s Battery Subscription model allows customers to purchase the vehicle without the battery and pay a separate monthly subscription. Its free charging program through V-Green charging stations until March 2029 and its Residual Value Guarantee (RVG) program, which protects a vehicle’s resale value, gives VinFast EV owners a significant ownership advantage compared to gas-powered and other EV counterparts.
The MPV 7 comes with a 7-year vehicle warranty and a 10-year battery warranty, which VinFast positions as the longest warranty coverage in its class.
VF MPV 7: Built for Family, Not Just the Daily Drive
For families considering an EV, range and charging convenience can be just as important as the vehicle’s purchase price. The MPV 7 offers an estimated range of up to 450 km under the NEDC cycle from its 60.13-kWh usable battery, while DC fast charging can bring the battery from 10% to 70% in around 30 minutes. This gives families more flexibility for daily driving and longer trips while keeping charging time manageable.
The MPV 7 also retains the practicality expected of a seven-seater, with 126 liters of cargo space with all seven seats in use, expanding to 606 liters with the third row folded and up to 1,240 liters with the rear seats folded. For families, the combination of passenger space and flexible cargo capacity helps make the transition to an EV without compromising the utility expected from an MPV.
Safety and convenience are also central to the family-oriented package, with four airbags, electronic stability and traction control, four ADAS features, and ISOFIX anchors on the second row, alongside rear air vents serving the second and third rows and four USB ports for passengers.
Ultimately, the MPV 7 does what a family MPV should: carry people, carry their stuff, and make everyday trips easier. Its all-electric powertrain adds another consideration: the potential to reduce the cost of keeping the family on the move.
