Moto rider dies in 8-vehicle smashup

A motorcycle rider was killed after a garbage truck rammed into his bike, along with seven other vehicles, on West Service Road in Pasay City on Sunday morning.

According to The STAR, the driver of the garbage truck lost control of the vehicle while traversing the West Service Road in Barangay 201 around 7:15 a.m.

Truck driver Wilmar Dalugdog said the incident occurred when the oversized vehicle he was driving malfunctioned, causing him to lose control of the streering wheel.

In closed-circuit television footage, the motor rider identified as Joaguin Bolaños was seen overtaking one of the jeepneys before he was hit by the truck. Bolaños was killed immediately after he was pinned under Dalugdog’s truck.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority personnel who responded to the incident said other people were also hurt in the vehicle smashup.

Apart from the motorcycle, other vehicles involved in the collision were two private cars, three jeepneys, and a taxi.

Dalugdog is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property. – Ghio Ong
