Road closures, rerouting scheme for Chinese New Year celeb

Several roads in Manila will be closed to traffic starting today to pave the way for the Chinese New Year celebration.

In a traffic advisory, the Manila Police District (MPD) said that the following roads will be closed at 5 p.m. today to give way to a concert that will be held at the Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz:

Quintin Paredes from Dasamarinans to Plaza Ruiz; Reina Regente from Soler to Plaza Ruiz; Plaza Ruiz U-turn slot; Juan Luna from Reina Regente to San Fernanzo; San Fernando from Elcano to Plaza Ruiz; and the northbound lane of Jones Bridge from P. Burgos to Escolta.

Meanwhile, both lanes of Jones Bridge from Escolta to Magallanes Drive will be closed to traffic at 10:30 p.m. for a fireworks display.

Motorists coming from Juan Luna intending to utilize the southbound lane of Jones Bridge should go straight to Muelle dela Industria to McArthur Bridge. 

Vehicles using Soler st. going to Plaza Ruiz should turn left or right to C.M. Recto to their point of destination. Those who are using Jose Abad Santos going to Plaza Ruiz should turn left or right to C.M. Recto to point of destination.

If you are using Dasmarinas, turn left to Prenza then right to Muella dela Industria to point of destination.

Motorists utilizing San Fernando going to Plaza Ruiz should turn right to Elcano, turn left to Urbiztondo, turn right to Barraca, turn left to Dasmarinas, turn right to Juan Luna, then turn left to Muelle dela Industria to point of destination. 

The MPD said that vehicles coming from P. Burgos going to Binondo area intending to use the northbound lane of Jones Bridge should use McArthur Bridge to point of destination.

According to the traffic advisory, closing and opening of roads would be based on actual traffic condition and subject to changes. 

On January 25 at 1 p.m., the parade would start from the Post Office and traverse the following roads: Jones Bridge, Quintin Paredes st., Ongpin st., ROnquillo st., F. Torres st., Soler st., Reina Regente st., to the Lucky Chinatown Mall.

Motorists coming from P. Burgos going to Binondo area intending to use the northbound lane of Jones Bridge should take McArthur Bridge to point of destination.

The MPD reminded motorists that a stop-and-go traffic scheme will be implemented during the parade.
