The world’s first flying motorcycle takes to the skies, completing its first test run

In the past couple of months, we’ve seen a flying car take flight and now a flying motorcycle has successfully taken to the skies.

Jetpack Aviation’s The Speedster is a jet turbine-powered flying motorcycle reminiscent of Star Wars speeders. It is said to be able to hit a top speed of 300mph, carry up to 600lbs, and cruise at an altitude of 15,000ft above ground. The machine is capable of vertical take off and landing as well as hover and move forward in the air.

According to Luxurylaunches, the company concluded five months of testing in May where it “demonstrated the Speeder’s ability to take-off, climb, hover, yaw and perform slow transitions into forward flight.”

The prototype for the flying motorcycle sports a clunky aluminum chassis and four turbojet engines. Jetpack Aviation is also already working on a more advanced prototype with a smaller frame made of carbon-fiber body panels.

The Speeder runs on jet fuel, diesel, or kerosene and will be available in the market for $380,000 with US Marine Corps as potential users.
