Mazda PH raises the bar in pickup truck style with the new BT-50 4×2 Black Edition

Mazda Philippines recently unveiled the BT-50 4×2 AT Black Edition, a new, value-packed BT-50 variant that enhances the style and sophistication of Mazda’s critically acclaimed pickup truck. Priced identically to the standard BT-50 4×2 AT variant at P1,430,000, it comes as a factory-installed, no-cost option for the first 50 customers.

Sculpted with Mazda’s KODO: Soul of Motion design, the BT-50 4×2 AT Black Edition features an elegant yet athletic exterior unheard of in its class. The distinctive Mazda fascia, with its three-dimensional signature wing grille, now showcases a high-gloss black finish, complemented by new 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels wrapped in 255/65 R17 highway-terrain tires.

Work and play seamlessly come together with the BT-50 4×2 AT Black Edition’s standard LED front lighting, power folding side mirrors, side step boards, and a bedliner covering its generous cargo tub, while the new tailgate assist makes the loading and unloading of cargo easier than ever.

Designed for customers looking for more luxury and personalization in his or her pickup, the BT-50 4×2 AT Black Edition is equipped with bespoke black leather seats with gray accents and contrast stitching, and “Black Edition” logos debossed on the front headrests. A black leather-wrapped steering wheel and armrest further enhance the cabin’s overall ambiance.

Mazda’s human-centered design is also on full display with the BT-50’s tilt/telescopic steering wheel and seats constructed of low-rebound MDI polyurethane material. The special seat material equalizes the pressure points along the human spine, resulting in superb support and comfort even on long drives.

The BT-50 4×2 AT Black Edition puts occupant comfort first with its rear A/C vents, touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker system, and remote engine start. For safety, it has dual SRS airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Control with traction control, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control. For added confidence and convenience when parking, it comes equipped with a reverse parking camera with back-up sensors.

Under the hood of the BT-50 4×2 AT Black Edition is a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine generating 190ps at 3,600 rpm and 450Nm of torque from 1,600 rpm. Mated to a 6-speed automatic and featuring reduced body weight thanks to the use of ultra-high-strength steel, it offers responsive performance as demonstrated by its 3,500-kg towing capacity and 1,000-kg payload. Water wading is a class-leading 800mm.

“After the launch and success of the Mazda BT-50 4×4 Pangolin Edition 2, we listened to customer feedback and decided to offer a value-oriented package for the BT-50 4×2, befitting Mazda’s premium positioning. The introduction of the Mazda BT-50 4×2 Black Edition builds on the strong foundation of our well-received pickup truck by answering the desire of pickup truck buyers who see the BT-50 as a versatile lifestyle vehicle. Above all, it further elevates our sporty style as shown by our other Black Edition models, particularly, the CX-9,” says Steven Tan, President and CEO of Mazda Philippines.

The BT-50 4×2 AT Black Edition comes in six colors: Ice White, Ingot Silver Metallic, Concrete Gray Mica, Rock Gray Mica, Red Volcano Mica, and Gun Blue Mica. Like every brand-new Mazda, it offers a 5-year Free Service plan which covers the expenses of periodic maintenance at either 6-month or 10,000-kilometer intervals, for up to 5 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. This is on top of a 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.
