Surprise! The Suzuki XL7 is now a hybrid!

Suzuki rocked our emails late this Sunday with an announcement that the new Suzuki XL7 is now available in the Philippines. It’s fitted with a 12-volt mild hybrid system and some design updates to take on the ever fiery MPV arena. It’s available only in the GLX trim priced at PHP 1,252,000 for the monotone and PHP 1,262,000 for the two-tone color.

Just like the Ertiga Hybrid, the new Suzuki XL7 retains its trusty 1.5-liter engine that makes 103 Hp and 138 Nm of torque coupled to a 4-speed automatic. This combination is now paired to a 12-volt mild hybrid system that has 1.77kW of power and 50 Nm of torque meant to assist the engine with its fuel consumption. Together with the Intelligent Starter Generator and the XL7’s new Engine Auto Start-Stop feature, Suzuki claims the XL7 is 13% more efficient in urban conditions. They also claim it reached 22.03 km/l in their internal testing on the highway with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).

The new XL7 is made distinct from the previous iteration with its revised grille and tailgate. It now has a broken chrome frame with a bigger Suzuki logo upfront while the rear has the chrome accent moved from under the logo, to above it. Another would be if you chose the two-tone color options in Savanna Ivory Metallic/Cool Black Pearl Metallic or the Rising Orange Pearl Metallic/Cool Black Pearl Metallic. The former colors of Brave Khaki Pearl, Snow White Pearl, and Magma Gray Metallic are now exclusive to the monotone version. The load-bearing roof rails come as standard.

Inside is mostly the same as the previous version. Only visible differences are the new matte chrome accent on the dashboard veneer as well as additional buttons on the steering wheel. All else, including the automatic climate control, ventilated cup holders by the shifter, and the floating-style 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are still there.

In terms of safety, the new XL7 still makes do with only dual front airbags, accompanied by Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Control, Rear Parking Sensors, and Rear Camera.

Suzuki Philippines is also doing an Early Reservation Promo for those interested in the new Suzuki XL7. You can secure a spot for only PHP 5,000 fee from March 18 to 31, 2024. Those who will avail of this early reservation will have a PHP 50,000 discount from the total SRP in cash or bank P.O., as well as discounted downpayment for financing. You may visit any Suzuki dealer nationwide to see the new Suzuki XL7 in the metal.
