Not many people know that Kapamilya television host and weather anchor Kuya Kim Atienza is fond of two-wheelers. In his latest vlog, avid motorcycle enthusiast Kuya Kim recently caught up with his former moto-group the Cruiserheads and rode with Pinoy rock icon Ely Buendia.
Kuya Kim’s latest vlog — BAKIT NGA BA NASA LABAS ANG BRIEF NG SUPERHEROES?! | Kuya Kim Atienza Vlog 10 — featured the Ducati Paul Smart 1000 (PS1000LE), a limited-edition, retro-styled motorcycle built by Ducati in 2006 to commemorate acclaimed racer Paul Smart’s win at the Imola 200 bike race back in 1972. The manufacturer built only 2,000 units.
Always the ‘Trivia Man,’ Kuya Kim shared that there may be less than ten Ducati Paul Smart 1000s in the Philippines today, counting him and fellow actors Dingdong Dantes and Richard Gutierrez as owners. He also went on to explain the dynamics behind the engine and suspension of the bike.
Later in the vlog, Kuya Kim rode to San Pablo, Laguna and shared some light moments with fellow member former PBA player Enrico Villanueva. At the stopover, the group also chanced upon former Sen. JV Ejercito who was riding to Tagaytay himself.
While the group rested, Eraserheads ex-vocalist Ely Buendia arrived in style aboard his Harley-Davidson Softail Slim, a classic cruiser done up in bobber styling. The duo ultimately shared in some friendly banter, with Ely and Kuya Kim talking briefly about why superheroes wear their briefs outside their suits.
In the video, Kuya Kim also revealed that his friendship with Ely started back in the 80s, when both of them where Mass Communication: Major in Film and Audio Visual Communication students at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. He also wished his rocker friend a happy birthday.
As of Nov. 18, Kuya Kim’s YouTube channel has reached more than 80,000 subscribers, with ten videos uploaded so far. His first video titled WELCOME TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL! was uploaded Sept. 5, generating more than 129,000 views so far.
