There’s no denying that there has been an increasing popularity for classic-looking motorcycles in the Philippines in recent years. This has led to bike builders and custom shops popping left and right, and a hike in population for retro bikes on the road.
But what if you want a bike that dons a classic look right off the showroom? This is where Mutt Motorcycles come in – officially and exclusively distributed by United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI).
“We’re very excited to bring Mutt Motorcycles to ardent motorcycle enthusiasts in the local market. With confidence, we believe that it will bring a unique and fun new dimension to two-wheeled mobility. Mutt Motorcycles is nothing less than a cutting-edge brand,” said Erroll Dueñas, President of UAAGI.
Mutt Motorcycles are born and bred in Birmingham in the UK. Co-founded by Benny Thomas and Will Rigg, the company started as a way to bridge the gap between small-displacement motorcycles and vintage styling commonly seen on bigger bikes.
Thomas is known in the British custom bike scene, specializing in designing, sourcing, and building expensive motorcycles. Both he and Rigg have artistic backgrounds, apparent in the incredible attention to detail employed on the bikes they created.
Globally offering small-engine bikes for now (125cc and 250cc), Mutt Motorcycles wants to make the custom bike scene more accessible to a wider set of buyers. These retrolicious bikes are claimed to be easy to ride and maintain, while also carrying relatively affordable sticker prices.
More importantly, Mutt Motorcycles boasts Japanese reliability to come with its classic British styling. Philippine-spec models are powered by 250cc 4-stroke Suzuki engines, touted to deliver superior everyday performance than the majority of non-big bikes on the road.
Mutt Motorcycles comes standard with the latest materials and technologies, such Delphi fuel injection systems, TIG-welded stainless steel, rear gas shocks, aluminum low-rise bars, CNC-machined fork caps and head stem nuts, Alcantara seat upholstery, aluminum rider and pillion pegs, exhaust heat shields, and bullet-style LED signal lights on aluminum stalks.
These bikes also come with ABS for safer rides, while bespoke parts are also used to spice up the custom Brit look. Mutt also throws in some vintage details such as deep knobby tires, spoke wheels, aluminum brushed mudguards, and headlight grilles.
The first Mutt bikes now on offer in the Philippines are the Mastiff, the Akita, and the Razorback. However, UAAGI plans to bring in a few more in the next few weeks, namely the GTS-R, the GT-SS, the Mushman, the Imperial Roadster, the Fat Sabbath, and the Hilts.
Mutt bikes have sticker prices that start at P185,000, available in Matte Black, Matte Green, Silver, Glossy Gray, and Raw Steel colorways. The first Mutt Motorcycles showroom is now open in Clark, Pampanga.
