Suzuki Jimny Rhino Edition & eVX Concept wow crowd at PIMS 2024

Suzuki Auto Philippines has made a significant impact at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) held at the World Trade Center Manila. Stealing the spotlight wareveal of the Jimny Rhino Edition, alongside Suzuki’s cutting-edge electric concept vehicle, the eVX Concept.

Jimny Rhino Edition: Off-road icon reimagined

The Jimny Rhino Edition took center stage, attracting the attention of off-road enthusiasts and city drivers alike. Suzuki previewed both the Jimny 3-Door and 5-Door Rhino Editions, each equipped with exclusive accessories that enhanced their rugged appeal. These special editions are powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine delivering 120 PS and 130 Nm of torque, ensuring both versions maintain the Jimny’s famed off-road prowess.

Distinguished by its aggressive styling, the Jimny Rhino Edition features a unique front grille, front bumper under garnish, side under garnish, mud flaps, and a striking Rhino decal, underscoring the Jimny’s reputation as a robust and adventurous vehicle.

eVX Concept: A glimpse Into Suzuki’s electric future

While the Jimny Rhino Edition captured the hearts of off-road lovers, Suzuki’s eVX Concept offered a vision of the future. Unveiled as an ‘Emotional Versatile Cruiser,’ the eVX is Suzuki’s first fully-electric SUV concept. The design incorporates the brand’s SUV heritage, featuring an upright stance, a horizontal hood, and high ground clearance, making it instantly recognizable.

Built on a dedicated EV platform, the eVX offers up to 550 kilometers of range, based on the modified Indian driving cycle (MIDC). Its progressive design focuses on aerodynamics, reducing drag to increase efficiency. The eVX is not just about eco-friendly credentials—it also prioritizes cabin comfort, convenience, and connected features.

Set to launch by 2025, the eVX Concept offers a sneak peek into what the brand envisions for future mobility in the country.

Beyond the showstoppers: Hybrid power and innovative partnerships

In addition to the Jimny Rhino Edition and the eVX Concept, Suzuki also showcased their latest hybrid models, including the XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade and the Ertiga Hybrid. These vehicles align with Suzuki’s push for eco-friendly yet stylish options for families and urban commuters alike.

The XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade comes with a bold new grille, black alloy wheels, and additional accessories like a rear spoiler and sports emblems. Meanwhile, the Ertiga Hybrid sports a refreshed look with a new grille design and protective accessories.

Suzuki’s booth at PIMS also highlighted the brand’s growing involvement in autonomous driving technologies and other innovative projects. Notably, Suzuki has partnered with TIER IV to explore open-source autonomous driving software, positioning itself as a leader in this emerging field. The brand is also involved in futuristic endeavors such as the SkyDrive flying car project and the HAKUTO-R commercial lunar exploration program.
