Volvo Cars Philippines celebrates 70 years of the Volvo Amazon this October
Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the exclusive distributor of Volvo Cars in the Philippines, marks 70 years of the Volvo Amazon, a model that helped establish a defining chapter in Volvo’s approach to automotive safety and its longstanding commitment to putting people at the center of mobility.
Introduced in 1956, the Volvo Amazon became an important part of Volvo’s safety with the development of the three-point seat belt. Reflecting the brand’s belief that technological advancement should ultimately help protect people on the road, this commitment was officially demonstrated in 1959 with the implementation of the modern three-point safety belt, developed by Volvo engineer Nils Bohlin. Volvo made the patent available to other manufacturers, allowing the technology to benefit motorists beyond the brand.
