Some of the most interesting cars at the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit

The Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit may not be as big as the other bigger motor shows in the Philippines, but it has one main focus, and it’s on the electrified vehicles that are either available on the market or coming soon. With the 14th edition of the show having recently concluded over the weekend, here are a couple of the coolest or most interesting cars to have come up at the show.

1. Kia PV5 Cargo

Kia Philippines is now dipping its toes into the electric commercial vehicle segment with the futuristic PV5 Cargo. It’s a large, boxy cargo van that has a very Robocop-inspired design with a price tag of Php 2,098,000. It’s powered by a 163 horsepower, 250Nm electric motor with a 51.5kWh NMC battery providing a range of up to 384km on a single charge, and can be fast-charged in about 30 minutes. The highlight is the large, dual-entry cargo area, capable of carrying a lot of goods inside, making it perfect for small businesses and fleets. Plus, for those looking for a passenger variant, it’s set to arrive in our country eventually.

2. 2009 Toyota Prius

This isn’t the newest vehicle on this list, but it’s very important, as this was the first hybrid electric vehicle model that Toyota Motor Philippines introduced to the country back in 2009. This fastback hybrid didn’t sell so well at first, but this was what laid the foundations for Toyota Motor Philippines’ diverse electrified lineup, with the same tried-and-tested Toyota Hybrid System that made humble power figures of up to 99 horsepower and up to 207Nm of torque (especially compared to today’s hybrids), but made up for that with amazing fuel economy figures.

3. Lexus ES 350h

You can see just how far Toyota (via its luxury arm, Lexus) has come when you take a look at the newest Lexus ES. Showcased here in its 350 Hybrid variant, prices start at Php 4,108,000. It features the next-generation Spindle Body design language that’s a lot more dynamic and futuristic, with a tech-filled interior that utilizes the latest Arene OS and Responsive Hidden Switches for a cleaner, yet still tactile experience. It’s powered by the tried-and-tested 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (A25A-FXS) and an electric motor plus high-voltage battery for an efficient and smooth ride.

4. Nissan Primera

It’s rare that a new sedan is set to launch in our market, and the Nissan Primera EV is one of them. Set to launch this November, it’s a revival of a nameplate used in upscale sedans in the 90s and 2000s, now produced in collaboration with its joint venture in China (Dongfeng Nissan). It’s a sleek, luxurious midsize fully electric sedan with a lot of tech, 218 horsepower, and 305Nm of torque from its front-mounted electric motor, and a 58kWh LFP battery capable of up to 500km of range on a single charge.

5. Nissan Navara Pro

Launching this November as well, the Nissan Navara Pro PHEV is the brand’s first plug-in hybrid pickup truck made in collaboration with its joint venture in China (Zhengzhou Nissan). It’s a lifestyle-oriented plug-in hybrid pickup with a retrofuturistic design with heritage touches, a luxurious and tech-filled interior, and a capable powertrain with off-road chops, as it has proper mechanical four-wheel drive, among many other things.

6. Deepal SO7

This fully electric crossover was first shown off at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show back in April 2026. Launched at this edition of the show, it has an SRP of Php 2,488,000 and is Deepal’s premium crossover offering. It’s a rear-wheel-drive EV with an output of 258 horsepower and 320Nm, a 79.9kWh battery that can drive up to 500km on a single charge, can recharge from 30 to 80% in around 15 minutes, and has luxuries like a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, an advanced set of driver assistance features, and a plush interior with lots of leather and a panoramic sunroof.

7. Lotus Emeya

This may be a far cry from the superlight Lotus sports cars of the past, but the Emeya is essentially their electric grand tourer that packs a big, powerful electric punch. With a starting price tag of Php 8-million, this offers a crazy power output of up to 905 horsepower and 985Nm of torque, up to 610km of range on a single charge from its 102kWh battery, and an air suspension that can be adjusted to either prioritize comfort or handling, all while looking very aggressive and unlike any other car on the road today.

8. Tesla Model YL

One of the more popular EVs as of late is the Tesla Model Y L, the lengthened three-row variant of the very popular Model Y. With a starting price of Php 2,849,000, this brings the tech and the design that the Model Y is known for, now for six people with an extended roof, two individual captain’s seats, and a third-row bench seat that can be folded down to accommodate even more cargo. It’s available in Long Range AWD form, capable of 514 horsepower and a range of up to 681km with its 88.20kWh NMC battery.

9. Avatr 12

The Avatr 12 is an all-electric, full-size luxury sedan that’s produced by Avatr, the high-end arm of Changan that specializes in battery electric vehicles. The alien-like design of this car extends to the interior, which has a 35.4-inch wraparound screen, a 25-speaker Meridian Premium sound system, no rear window, plenty of advanced tech like self-driving, and creature comforts like Nappa leather on the zero-gravity seats with massage. The range tops out at up to 610km from a 94.5kWh battery, and power is up to 577 horsepower and 650Nm of torque. It’s set to launch later this year with a price range of around Php 4- to 4.5 million.

10. Mini Aceman

The latest model of the Mini family is the Aceman, a subcompact fully electric crossover that replaces the Clubman in the lineup. Like every other Mini out there, it’s a friendly-looking, charming crossover inside and out, with lots of quirky Mini charm, alongside the trademark “go-kart” handling feel that Minis are renowned for. It also has a power output of up to 218 horsepower and 330Nm, a 54.2kWh battery that allows for a range of up to 407km on a single charge, and it retails for Php 3,550,000.
