A former Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) official has been made Quezon City’s new traffic czar.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday designated former LTFRB board member and Quezon City councilor Ariel Inton to helm then Quezon City Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management.
The newly created task force by Belmonte will see to road-clearing operations to rid thoroughfares of illegal structures and illegally parked vehicles.
This came after President Duterte’s order during his fourth State of the Nation Address to reclaim all public roads that are being used for private purposes in a bid to resolve the issue of traffic congestion. During a meeting, Belmonte promised to abide with the 60-day deadline set by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
