The Porsche Cayenne celebrates 20 years with the all-new Cayenne Turbo GT

It has been quite a year for Porsche — 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the brand’s flagship SUV, the Porsche Cayenne, an embodiment of dynamic, excitable driving and undeniable sophistication. In conjunction with this milestone, Porsche introduces the Cayenne’s third-generation, and the latest, sportiest iteration yet — the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is designed for maximum performance and handling, riding lower than any other Cayenne. Its passive chassis components and active control systems are reengineered and optimized for drivability. Its three-chamber air suspension is made to be more rigid, adapted fully by the damper settings of the Porsche Active Suspension Management and the application of the Power Steering Plus and rear-axle steering.

New Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT underlines its athleticism through premium standard equipment, including Adaptive Sports Seats, Sports Chrono package, and carbon trim.

The Cayenne Turbo GT is also the sportiest and most drivable of its class, having proven itself on the track by setting a lap record of 7:38.9 minutes at the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife, officially endowing it with the title of the fastest production SUV. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that is mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission. This powerful combination produces an output of 640hp and 850Nm of torque, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 300 km/h and make it to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. It comes with all available chassis systems and performance tires fitted as a standard, uniquely set up for superb racetrack capability.

Porsche’s latest is also integrated with technology features. One of which is the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilization and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) systems that operate with performance-oriented control software. These features are designed to improve roll stability, road-holding, and promote more precise turn-in behavior at higher cornering speeds.

Further raising the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT’s handling are 22-inch GT Design wheels in Neodyme, Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes.

Essentially a sports car in a luxury SUV body, the Cayenne Turbo GT is defined with a unique frontage, enlarged side-cooling air intakes, a contoured carbon roof, black wheel arch extensions, and 22-inch GT Design wheels in Neodyme. Specific to the GT model are carbon side plates that are fitted lengthwise to the roof spoiler and an adaptive extendable rear spoiler lip that increases the downforce by 40 kilograms.

The interior of the vehicle is likewise as impeccable, with Porsche’s signature luxury highlighted in every aspect. The door-paneling and plush seats are finished in a smooth-touch leather, either in black or Bordeaux red. Carbon-fiber trimmings add a sporty contrast to the sophisticated leather detail, while the leather steering wheel and bucket seats with heating option offer a premium, elevated experience. A novel feature to the Cayenne Turbo GT is the presence of a sport-chronograph clock that sits right in the center of the cabin, atop the dashboard. There is also a red sport-control button on the steering wheel.

Generations: Porsche in 2002 created a new market segment with the introduction of the Cayenne, with the Cayenne Turbo S (right) debuting two years later.

For the modern driver, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is integrated with all the latest connectivity features, such as seamless Bluetooth, WiFi capability, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Its compatibility with Apple CarPay allows for in-depth integration of Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. The system is also fitted with the latest Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a new user interface and operating logic.

As Porsche’s “Supersport Utility Vehicle,” the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is made for performance, style, and luxury. Just as the Cayenne has withstand the test of time for two decades, the Cayenne Turbo GT reinforces the power and innovation that comes with its name, proven by performance on and off the track. This makes up the key elements of what makes Porsche one of the most resounding names in motorsport — yesterday, today, and for generations to come.
