Chinese NEV brand Deepal debuts in PH, pushes REEV as game-changer in EV race

Deepal officially entered the Philippine automotive market with two big launches, kicking off with an exclusive preview for the media, bank executives, and dealer principals at The Fifth at Rockwell, Makati City on April 7, followed by its grand unveiling at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2026 at the World Trade Center Manila.

Deepal, an upscale brand of Changan, is highlighting its Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology, which is ideal for places with a lack of charging infrastructure like the Philippines. By combining electric motors with an onboard gasoline-powered range extender (which acts as a generator), REEVs deliver the benefits of electric mobility while eliminating range anxiety and infrastructure limitations, positioning it as a practical and forward-looking solution for Filipino motorists.

The brand enters with a competitively positioned three-model lineup aimed at establishing a strong presence in the growing new energy vehicle (NEV) segment. The compact Deepal S05 BEV SUV is priced at PHP 1,588,000, the S05 REEV SUV at PHP 1,688,000, and the midsize G318 REEV SUV at PHP 2,600,000, reflecting a value-driven strategy that makes advanced electrified mobility more accessible while signaling Deepal’s intent to be a major player in the market.

A sneak peek of the upcoming S07 was also presented, reinforcing Deepal’s long-term product roadmap and commitment to expanding its EV portfolio in the Philippines.

The preview gathered a distinguished group of attendees, including members of the media, key opinion leaders, and representatives from major banking institutions, underscoring strong cross-industry interest and support for Deepal’s entry into the Philippine market.

The event was led by Willy Tee Ten, President of Autohub Group and newly appointed President of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines or EVAP. In his remarks, he emphasized the urgency of electrification, stating, “With high fuel prices, the right time to shift to electric vehicles is now.” He also confirmed Autohub Group as the exclusive distributor of Deepal in the Philippines, strengthening its role in advancing sustainable mobility in the country.

We will ensure a strong foundation that helps make dealership operations profitable and sustainable in the long run.”

Two days after its exclusive industry launch in Rockwell, Deepal unveiled its full lineup to the public at MIAS 2026, where visitors experienced its vehicles firsthand and got to know its REEV technology.

Guided by its philosophy, “Touch the Future,” Deepal positions itself as a strong and competitive force in the Philippine EV landscape, bringing together innovation, value, and real-world usability at a pivotal moment in the country’s mobility transition.
