The Audi Q5 has earned the prestigious TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States, recognizing its strong
performance under the organization’s more demanding 2026 safety evaluation criteria.
Widely regarded as one of the world’s leading independent vehicle safety organizations, the IIHS assesses vehicles across several crashworthiness and crash prevention categories. These include front and side impact protection, pedestrian safety, headlight performance, and the effectiveness of advanced driver assistance systems designed to help prevent collisions.
For 2026, the IIHS introduced stricter requirements for both TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards. Vehicles are now required to achieve a “good” rating in the updated moderate overlap front crash test, which places greater emphasis on rear passenger protection. To qualify for the highest TOP SAFETY PICK+ distinction, vehicles must also deliver strong results in pedestrian crash prevention and updated front crash prevention evaluations involving passenger vehicles, motorcycles, and semitrailers.
The Audi Q5 met these elevated standards through a combination of advanced occupant protection systems and driver assistance technologies engineered to support safety in a wide range of driving conditions. Under the IIHS’ latest rules, front crash prevention systems must now be standard equipment across all variants — reinforcing Audi’s commitment to making advanced safety technologies more widely accessible.
Beyond safety, the third-generation Audi Q5 combines electrified performance with everyday efficiency and comfort. At its core is a longitudinally mounted electrified 2.0-liter TFSI powertrain paired with a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The combustion engine produces 205 horsepower, while an integrated powertrain generator contributes an additional 25 horsepower, bringing total output to 230 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque.
The electrified system also enhances efficiency and refinement. Capable of operating in pure electric mode at low speeds and while cruising, the Audi Q5 is classified as a Hybrid Electric Vehicle, qualifying it for number coding exemption in Metro Manila. The system also improves passenger comfort by allowing functions such as climate control to continue operating even when the combustion engine is temporarily switched off. Combined with a full-to-empty range of up to 918 kilometers, the Audi Q5 delivers a balance of performance, efficiency, and advanced technology alongside its award-winning safety credentials.
