Jeep’s ute trifecta: Renegade, Compass, and Gladiator pickup

Jeep Philippines surged through 2020 with a major launch and a minor update to its existing SUVs with seven-slot grilles, completing a utility vehicle trifecta amid the pandemic. And you may view these models via this year’s MIAS Wired, made possible by the Auto Nation Group (ANG), the official distributor of Jeep vehicles in the country.

The primary Jeep vehicle to headline the brand’s virtual stand is the Gladiator – a midsize pickup truck and returning name in the Jeep lineup. The Gladiator is essentially the pickup version of the Wrangler, providing additional space and capabilities for off-roading and cargo-hauling needs.

Based on the Wrangler JL, the Gladiator exudes ruggedness with its boxy design and no-nonsense design. And just like the iconic off-roader, it also has removable aluminum doors and windshield for that in-your-face feel when tackling mud, rocks, sand, or anything in between. Under the Gladiator’s hood resides a 3.6-liter Pentastar gasoline V6 that puts out 285hp and 352Nm of torque.

Available exclusively in four-door configuration, the Jeep Gladiator is available in Sport and Rubicon trims, priced at P3,890,000 and P4,790,000, respectively, at launch.

On the other hand, ANG reintroduced the Compass and Renegade into the country this year. Now with a lower price tag, both crossover utility vehicles (CUV) aim to provide diversity and luxury of choice to the Filipino buyers without breaking the bank.

The Compass is a compact CUV that comes with automaker’s off-roading DNA and authentic Jeep design. Beyond the exterior signatures, the Compass features a premium cabin, offering a high-end alternative for the discerning car buyers.

The Renegade, on the other hand, pegs itself as a youthful and dynamic CUV for the younger set of buyers. It stands as the smallest Jeep in the lineup, banking on its cuteness and adorability to lure fashionable patrons into the fold. This can be seen in the vehicle’s swatches of color options that are everything but subtle.
