Hyundai has unveiled the all-new sixth-generation Hyundai Verna, which is known as the Accent in the Philippines. The official renderings from the automaker surfaced online ahead of its global premiere on March 21.
The 2023 Hyundai Accent features a futuristic design guided by the brand’s latest design language known as the Global Design Identity of Sensuous Sportiness, which aims to introduce sporty and futuristic design cues to the brand’s vehicles.
One of the most noticeable design features of the new Accent is the parametric jewel-pattern grille, which can also be seen in other Hyundai models, including the Hyundai Elantra. The vehicle also features Staria-like full-width daytime running lights (DRLs) that add to its futuristic appeal. The sides of the car have chiseled character lines that flow seamlessly downwards to the back, creating a fastback side profile. The automaker describes the rear of the vehicle as “a seamless blend of innovative technology intertwined with a next-level charismatic look.”
Under the hood, the 2023 Hyundai Accent will be offered with two engine options. The first is a new 1.5-liter turbocharged GDi gasoline engine paired with a 6-speed manual (6MT) and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The second option is a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated gas engine that can be connected to either a 6MT or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Unsoo Kim said that the company aims to “elevate customer experiences and rejuvenate interest in this segment” with the all-new Hyundai Verna. He added that the vehicle will “define new aspirations and pave the way for futuristic experiences” with its dynamic proportions and distinctive parametric motifs.
The all-new 2023 Hyundai Accent is set to make its global debut on March 21, 2023. With its appealing and futuristic design, the question now arises: will Hyundai Motor Philippines bring back the nameplate to return to the lucrative subcompact sedan segment? To recall, HMPH removed the Accent from the lineup in favor of crossovers and sedans.
Well, time will tell, but judging by the Accent’s upcoming design, it begs the question “why not?”
