Mitsubishi Motors PH goes big for MIAS 2024

Mitsubishi is going for less is more in the 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) that happens from April 4-7, 2024. They will only showcase three from their wide range of cars at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. These three are on the bigger side of things though, namely the all-new Triton pickup, the Xpander Cross MPV, and the Montero Sport.

Mitsubishi Triton

Mitsubishi Philippines has adapted the Triton name for their pickup formerly known locally as Strada. The sixth generation of their pickup has a new ‘Beast Mode’ design theme, highlighted by the evolved Dynamic Shield front face and complemented by strong shoulders on the wheel wells. This new design language made it win the iF Design Award just last month.

Inside is an overhauled cabin with updated amenities. It has redesigned and more comfortable seats available in orange leather upholstery for the Athlete trim, 7-inch Digital Gauge Cluster, Dual Zone Climate control, and a 9-inch modern touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Launched last January, the all-new Triton is available with 2 engine options. Most variants will have the 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine that makes 183ps and 430Nm of torque, paired either to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed ‘matic. The top of the line Athlete trim gets a two-stage turbo with the same engine, increasing its output to 204ps and 470Nm of torque, exclusively paired to a 6-speed automatic and Super Select 4WD II.

Mitsubishi Xpander Cross

The bestselling MPV of 2023 will also grace Mitsubishi’s stage during MIAS 2024. The Mitsubishi Xpander Cross is the game changer that combines MPV functionality with SUV ruggedness and styling here in the Philippines.

It follows the aesthetic changes of the non-Cross model with the slimmer DRL, T-shaped headlights and taillight pattern, as well as new dashboard design. It just takes things further with its fender flares, skid plates on both front and rear, and a subtle update on the color in the cabin.

What makes the Xpander Cross more enticing is its 225mm of ground clearance and its exclusive Active Yaw Control. AYC manages the braking force for each wheel, resulting in better ability and stability in corners.

Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Of course, the lineup won’t be complete without the Montero Sport. Like the Xpander Cross, it also helped create its own segment resulting in a fierce fight among other mid-size SUVs. It’s fitted with Advanced Driver Assist technologies for a safer driver in every situation. Among these are Lane Change Assist, Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The Montero Sport is still comfortable in the unpaved path despite its tech for the city. It comes with a Rear Differential Lock, Off-Road Mode, Super Select 4WD II, Hill Descent Control, and Active Stability Control.

If you’re on the fence about any of these Mitsubishi models, head on to the World Trade Center in Pasay City from April 4-7, 2024 for the 2024 MIAS to see them in the metal. Who knows, maybe having a closer look and personal feel for them will help you decide which one is meant for you.
