Changan continues NEV education with Tech Talk series

We are still in the transition stage from conventional cars to the next-generation of fully-electric mobility. This is why Filipinos are buying different kinds of New Energy Vehicles – hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and full-electric. Some already have an experience with a previous car, while some are first-time car owners which makes the initial experience more daunting.

This is why Changan is continuing their Tech Talk series with their customers. Here, customers will learn more about their vehicle and can ask questions in order to clarify their concerns. This is done in a very positive environment where nothing is too mundane to be left unanswered.

The August edition of their Tech Talk discussed the different kinds of powertrain, safety measures for handling high-voltage systems, proper charging, and maintenance practices.

There was an extensive discussion at the first part since it talked about the different kinds of hybrid cars. I can see their perspective where a plug-in hybrid is confusing against a range-extended electric vehicle, when both are still technically hybrid vehicles. Here, some owners realized they bought the right one for them, while others who currently only have a conventional car now have a narrower vision on what they want.

They also discussed the orange rule for Changan NEVs. All their electrified vehicles use a bright orange cable cover for high-voltage wiring. These should never be touched and tampered with in order to avoid shock.

Also clarified was the maintenance for NEVs. Hybrids still have an engine and so they still need a Preventive Maintenance Service a few times a year. Full-electric vehicles have fewer PMS visits but still need maintenance on the most crucial parts like tires, brake pads, cooling system, and suspension.

The weeks-long rain naturally raised questions about driving through floods with NEVs. Although the battery is sealed, it’s still not recommended to push through wading through high standing water as prolonged submersion can compromise the car’s components. If there’s no other choice, it’s best to bring the vehicle to a service center immediately after driving through a flood.

The Changan Tech Talk is led by the brand’s Aftersales Department that’s open to even non-EV customers. Changan’s lineup of NEVs include the K50 Range-Extended Electric Vehicle Pickup, the Nevo Q05 Plug-in Hybrid, A05 PHEV, and Lumin Battery-Electric Vehicle.

You can visit their growing network of dealers nationwide to see their new energy vehicles live and take them out for a spin. Your next or first electrified vehicle might be a Changan.
