Toyota announces start of 2026 Esports season with qualifier kick-off this August

Following the conclusion of Race Weekend 3 of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup last August 15, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) now kicks off its 2026 Esports season with the start of qualifiers for the TGR Philippines Esports GT Championship.

The TGR Philippines Esports GT Championship is TMP’s premier sim racing tournament, which aims to bring the thrill and excitement of motorsports to a broader and more diverse audience. It allows aspiring racers to kickstart their motorsports career through competitive virtual racing. Previous winners of this competition have gone on to compete in the TGR Philippine Cup, proving that sim racing skills can translate to the real-life track.

From August 17 to September 13, interested participants who do not have their own PlayStation may do their qualifiers at the following GR performance dealerships:

·       Toyota Makati, Inc.

·       Toyota Alabang, Inc.

·       Toyota Silang, Cavite

·       Toyota San Fernando, Pampanga

·       Toyota Calamba, Laguna Inc.

·       Toyota Cebu City

·       Toyota Otis, Inc.

·       Toyota Commonwealth, Inc.

·       Toyota Manila Bay

·       Toyota Global City

·       Toyota Santa Rosa

Meanwhile, for those who have their own PlayStation 4 or 5, a copy of Gran Turismo 7, an active PSN account, and PS PLUS subscription, they may opt for an online qualifier.

Both onsite and online participants must register through https://tinyurl.com/TGRPh-Esports-Reg to secure their qualifier schedule.

For this year’s tournament, the TGR Philippines Esports GT Championship is introducing a new class. Previously, all participants competed in a single class to determine the top three winners who would go on to represent the Philippines in the regional finals.

To encourage more young racers to pursue their racing dreams, participants aged 18 and below may now register under the Junior Class. The Sporting Class, meanwhile, is open to participants aged 19 and above.

The top 10 fastest Sporting Class players and top 10 fastest Junior Class players will head to the National Finals, where the three regional finals representatives will be determined. The regional representatives will be made up of the champions of the Sporting Class and Junior Class, with the third slot going to the runner up of either class who has the higher number of points after the final round of the National Finals.

The National Finals will be held onsite at the SMX Convention Center on September 27.

Aside from the honor of representing the Philippines at the regional finals, the Sporting Class and Junior Class champions of the TGR Philippines Esports GT Championship will each be receiving a cash prize of PHP 100,000, while the runner ups from both classes will receive PHP 75,000 each. National Finalists can also look forward to cash prizes and official Gazoo Racing merchandise.
