The legacy of the iconic Italian scooter manufacturer lives on as Vespa Philippines unveiled three new variants under the Vespa GTS range: the GTS SuperSport, GTS Touring, and the all-new GTS SuperTech.
The new generation of the GTS Series carries the signature round LED headlamp along with a redesigned shield and a longer and improved horn cover. It also sports new handlebars, chrome-plated crest on the front mudguard, rearview mirrors as well as a “honeycomb motif” grille.
The GTS Touring’s distinctive characteristic is its evocative fairing, stylish upholstered saddle, and a dedicated plate on the back of the shield. It also offers a generous load capacity with its rear luggage rack paired with a spacious under-saddle compartment. This variant comes in Beige Eleganza and Blue Avio.
The Vespa GTS SuperSport boasts “a dynamic acceleration and strong character” through its black rims. Unlike the Touring, the SuperSport has a double-upholstered saddle with clasp. It comes with three colors: White Innocenza, Grey Titanio, and Blue Vivace.
The top-tier Vespa GTS SuperTech, on the other hand, is the first large-bodied variant to feature a 4.3-inch full color TFT digital instrument cluster. It boasts the new 300 HPE (High Performance Engine) which is controlled by the latest-generation, Euro 5-compliant Magneti Marelli MIUG4 ECU.
It is capable of delivering around 23hp, offering increased performance while minimizing noise and fuel consumption. Described to be the “most powerful engine ever” on a Vespa, the 300 HPE delivers improved thermodynamic performance and reduced friction without compromising on size. The internal components of the cylinder have been redesigned such as the ducts, intake and exhaust valves, as well as a new piston design providing highly efficient combustion.
Aside from the SuperTech’s 300 HPE, the other two variants come with a 150cc i-Get and a 300 Quasar engines.
The GTS series also has the Vespa MIA connectivity system, allowing riders to connect their smartphones to the on-board electronic system via Bluetooth. Once connected, the TFT display will show incoming calls and messages. The display can also be used as a navigation system by setting a route through the Vespa App on smartphone.
Aside from the GTS range, Vespa Philippines also introduced the Sprint Carbon with enhanced design and an array of new features as well as the “sporty edition” S Carbon.
The Sprint Carbon carries the i-Get engine and is equipped with a series of technological improvements such as the Antilock Braking System, Immobilizer, LED lamps, and USB port.
Meanwhile, the S Carbon exhibits a more aggressive design highlighted by a black crest and the red S stickers on its five-spoke black rims. It has an 11-inch rim fitted with a 110/70 tire while the 10-inch rear has 120/70. The S Carbon is available in two colors: Black Vulcano and White Innocenza which both come with carbon-look details.
