Nissan has undergone quite a major rethink of its product strategy recently– especially with all of the financial woes and challenges from the Chinese brands that it has to face. And as the old adage goes, “if you can’t beat them, join them,” it has leveraged its joint venture partnership in China for two of its latest products.
These are the Navara Pro PHEV and the Primera EV, models that were first globally introduced at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show. We’ll soon be able to see them in dealerships this coming November, but here’s a first look at these two models.
The Navara Pro PHEV, as its name suggests, is Nissan’s first-ever plug-in hybrid pickup truck model shown off back in April 2025 at Auto Shanghai, and this one is born from its partnership with Zhengzhou Nissan (Dongfeng).

It shoots straight for the likes of the BYD Shark 6 DMO and the Changan Hunter REEV in terms of size and positioning as a lifestyle-oriented pickup truck, measuring 5,494mm long, 1,960mm wide, and 1,945mm tall with a 3,300mm wheelbase.

The exterior design has been inspired by the Nissan Hardbody, the predecessor of the Frontier and Navara pickup trucks, and it can be seen in the “three-bar” lighting motif in the front and rear, alongside the futuristic-looking exterior. It comes in Pearl White, Stardust Metallic Gray, Obsidian Black, and Retro Yellow for color options.

Above the 18-inch alloy wheels are illuminated side markers, and on the LE variant, it has a few extra goodies such as power running boards, a power tailgate and rear step, and a power roller bed cover. There’s also a bedliner, a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) panel in the tailgate, and the AC charging port is found on the right side.

The interior is full of black leather, with power-adjustable, ventilated, and heated front seats, and flip-up and fold-down rear seats with additional under-seat storage. Tech is courtesy of a 10-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 14.6-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and on the LE, a 12-speaker Focal sound system.

The powertrain is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to an electric motor, making 212ps and 350Nm from the engine alone, and 143 ps and 220Nm from the electric motor. Global specifications say it produces a very healthy combined 408ps and 800Nm. It has a 20.24kWh Li-NMC battery that should promise up to 135km (NEDC) of pure electric range and up to 1,050km (NEDC). It can be charged from 20-100% in three hours

Nissan is proud of the Navara Pro’s off-road chops, as it uses a proper mechanical 4×4 system, featuring the likes of coil springs, an electronic locking rear differential, and figures such as 232mm of ground clearance, 695mm of battery ground clearance, a 700mm wading depth, and a payload capacity of 865kg.

As for the Primera EV, it’s the resurrection of an old nameplate that was found on a series of more upscale sedans in the ‘90s and 2000s meant for the European and Japanese markets. Now a midsize sedan that measures 4,930mm long,1,895mm wide, and 1,487mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,915mm.

This features the trend of sleek futuristic design that prioritizes aerodynamics, with futuristic full LED lighting in the shape of a “7” (as it is called the Nissan N7 in China), down to the 18-inch wheels, the massive panoramic glass roof, and frameless doors with flush door handles. This will be available in three colors: Radiant Silver Metallic, Obsidian Black Pearl, and Glacier White Pearl.

The interior takes a similarly minimalist, yet luxurious approach, featuring a light gray leather and suede mix for the upholstery, quad-zone climate control, and power-adjustable front seats with heating, cooling, and massaging functions. It has a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker sound system, and a 50W wireless charger.

It’s powered by a single front-mounted electric motor that produces 218ps and 305Nm of torque, and a 58kWh LFP battery allows for up to 500km of range on a single charge, and it can be topped up from 10 to 80% in 19 minutes thanks to DC fast charging.
Both of these models feature the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of advanced driver assistance systems, alongside the ProPilot Level 2 autonomous driving systems. These will also debut the all-new MyNissan Connect connected car services, which offer a comprehensive suite of vehicle status monitoring on top of what it used to do before, which includes the like of vehicle location, geofencing, charge monitoring, and remote lock/unlock/start/stop.
Both of these models will go on sale this coming November 2026, and you’ll be able to see them at upcoming events like the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit 2026 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City from October 22 to 24, 2026.
