Reimagining a Legend: The Lexus Electrified Sport Concept shines in Manila

About twenty years ago, Lexus stunned the world when it first unveiled its LFA Concept Car at the 2005 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. It was a car that dared to dream – a V10-powered symphony of carbon fiber and precision engineering that hinted at a bolder, wilder side of Lexus.

The production model of the LFA was later launched at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show in Japan; and with only 500 units ever built, it became a coveted masterpiece, securing its place in every enthusiast’s mental museum of automotive legends.

But what if the LFA could be reimagined for the electrified age? What if Lexus could recreate the thrill, prestige and innovation of its flagship supercar in a form that embraces the future of mobility? Many enthusiasts argue that that’s exactly what the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept is – a bold vision of what the LFA’s legacy could look like, in the age of electric mobility.

The Lexus Electrified Sport Concept’s radical styling was initially developed at Lexus’ Calty design studio in California. The car’s design features bold proportions and a low ride height alongside impressive performance potential of its electric powertrain and solid state battery. The concept suggests achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in just around 2 seconds, and a cruising range of over 700 km.

The concept car was first unveiled in Japan by none less than TMC President Akio Toyoda back in December 2021. It was later showcased to tens of thousands of visitors at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed held in the UK. It also made its North American debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. And this 2025, it just made its rounds in the Philippines as part of Lexus Philippines’ celebration of its 16th anniversary in the country.

The Lexus Electrified Sport Concept was publicly showcased in the Philippines the last two weekends – January 17-19 at Lexus Manila, and last January 24-26 at Lexus Mitsukoshi. It was designed as a future-focused event that was all about BEV (battery-electric vehicle) innovations and crafted experiences.

Bringing the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept to Manila is more than just a display of futuristic engineering – it’s a celebration of the Japanese brand’s progress, passion and possibility.

By displaying this stunning concept as part of its anniversary celebrations, Lexus Philippines has not only reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, but it has also given Filipinos a rare glimpse into the brand’s bold, electrified future.
