Honda Philippines reaches 10-million motorcycle production milestone

Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) has reached a major manufacturing milestone after producing its 10-millionth motorcycle unit a few years after its 50th year of production in the Philippines.

The milestone was commemorated on September 9 at HPI’s manufacturing facility in Batangas under the theme “Commemoration of 10 Million Production, Igniting the Passion to Lead the Future Beyond the Limits.” The 10-millionth unit was a Click125 Smart Edition finished in Pearl Arctic White. It’s the latest iteration of their best-selling motorcycle here in the country.

The achievement underscores HPI’s manufacturing operations and the contributions of its employees, dealers, suppliers and other partners. Takeshi Kobayashi, President of HPI, said that “this milestone of 10 million units was not achieved by Honda Philippines alone. It was made possible by our customers who have trusted Honda, our dealers who deliver our products and services to customers every day, our suppliers and partners who support our business and production, and generations of associates who have put their pride and passion into every motorcycle we make. Honda Philippines will move forward with gratitude to Philippine society. We will contribute to creating jobs, developing people, and supporting the growth of the industry, while growing together with the Philippines.”

Also in the event was Minoru Kato, Executive Managing Officer of Honda Motor Corporation. He was confident about HPI’s growing role in mobility in the country. “ I hope today’s milestone of 10 million units will become the starting point for the next stage of growth for Honda Philippines,” he said.

Koji Sugita, Sr. Vice President of MC Business at Asian Honda Motor Corporation emphasized Honda’s commitment to strengthening its connection with Filipino riders. He said “This year, not only your continued dedication to the Philippines market for Filipino customers, but you have also taken very important new step, to take an important role in the network of mutual supply across Asia & Oceania region”

HPI began motorcycle production in May 1973 at its first factory in Parañaque. Production reached 1 million units in February 2005, before operations moved to a new factory in Batangas in April 2006. The company then reached 5 million units in September 2016 and the 10-million mark was reached in September 2026.

HPI said it will continue strengthening its manufacturing operations and pursuing further growth in the Philippine motorcycle industry, while developing motorcycles aimed at bringing mobility to more Filipino riders.
