Plan your next destination: Mitsubishi Destinator makes official debut in the Philippines

Mitsubishi was turbocharged for this one. The original DST Concept made its global launch during the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show. Around 6 months later, the production version was launched in Indonesia with the name DST becoming the Destinator. Another 6 moons and the Mitsubishi Destinator is back where it was first seen – in the Philippines.

The Destinator is aimed at those looking for a more powerful and premium 7-seater but do not want to spend Montero money. It slots in between that and the Xpander in terms of size and pricing while having a feature-set all its own. Pricing starts at PHP 1,389,000 but there’s introductory pricing for reservations and vehicle releases until January 31, 2026.

Starting with the dimensions, the Destinator measures 4,680mm long, 1,840mm wide, 1,780mm tall, has a wheelbase of 2,815mm and a ground clearance of 214mm. It is indeed bigger than the Xpander, although this is a bit closer to the ground.

The clearance is a small compromise for what you’ll get here that the Xpander and even Xforce can only wish for. Under the hood of the Destinator is a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine that makes 163 horses and 250 Nm of pull, paired to a CVT. It has an engine start/stop button with the mid and top trims getting Terrain Modes like Gravel, Wet, Tarmac, and Mud.

The look of the Destinator is very familiar by now. The design follows the ethos of “Gravitas and Dynamism.” Gravitas gives the SUV a more robust stance while the latter makes it energetic even at a stand still. The front fascia of course gets the Dynamic Face Shield treatment while the lighting are the same T-shapes found in its almost twin, the Xforce. Speaking of the Xforce, the Destinator differentiates itself by its unique grille, lower bumper design, LED lighting contour, and new 18-inch alloy wheels.

If the exterior is a bit twinning, the cabin has more differences though still subtle to the untrained eye. The Destinator is available with padded leather finish on the dashboard (GT), has a slightly wider center console with a different contour pattern, and new orientation of air controls for the second row. The interior theme is either all-black or the GT’s maroon and black combination. There’s even a panoramic sunroof (GT) up top with a solid cover for those hot summer days.

These amenities are accompanied by other creature comforts like 8-way Power Adjust seat for the driver, seat undertray for the front passenger, cooling box at the center console, smartphone pockets for the second row, stowaway tables, Wireless Charger, and cargo underfloor organizer. There’s even slim pockets and cup holders in the third row.

Of course, tech amenities are leveled up as well. The Destinator is equipped with 64-color ambient lighting system, 8-inch LCD instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8-speaker Yamaha Sound System, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, Dual-Zone aircon, USB-C ports, Powered Tailgate, and nanoeX air filtration system. It even has a Digital Rear View Mirror for an unobstructed look of the back.

Mitsubishi Connect App also made its way into the Destinator. This allows you to Remote Start your car, has a Car Finder, Climate Control Start, and Dealer Services Scheduler for added convenience.

The Destinator also has a solid standard safety package. All trims get 4 airbags, with the GT having additional Curtain airbags. A rear camera is fitted in the GLX, while the GLS and GT get a 360-camera system. All three however will have Active Stability and Traction Control, Active Yaw Control, and Hill Start Assist.

The mid-trim GLS gets a few advanced bits like Blind Spot Warning System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The GT will get the full Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing that includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Mitigation System, Leading Car Departure Notification, and Automatic High Beam. These allowed the Destinator to have a 5-star rating at the ASEAN NCAP.
