Champion Rider Commits to Rider Consumer Protection

The Philippine motorcycle market is revving up with a steady post-pandemic growth, including a remarkable 447,865 surge in two-wheel vehicles plying the roads in the first quarter of 2025 alone.

Two-time Philippine Superbike Champion and long-time motorcycle safety advocate Raniel Resuello emphasized the critical role of the motorcycle industry in the country’s economy. He underscored the growing need for the sector to be properly represented in Congress.

“This significant increase in sales reflects Filipinos’ deep passion for riding,” Resuello said. “Motorcycles not only boost local tourism but also improve the mobility of people, goods, and services—driving economic activity across the country.”

Resuello, a nominee of the Serbisyo sa Bayan Partylist (SBP) for the 2025 midterm elections, also stressed the need to shift the public perception of riders and push for stronger legislation to protect and empower them.

Madalas kasi napapanood natin sa balita o videos ‘yong mga aksidente dahil sa motor, karera sa kalsada at banking o ‘kamote’ rider. Nangyayari tuloy, nai-stigmatize ang lahat ng rider,” he said. “So gusto natin maipakita naman ‘yong other side—na economic powerhouse ang two-wheels sa bansa at lumalaki pa.”

Resuello has committed to championing consumer protection for riders—advocating for accessible, high-quality, and affordable safety gears, motorcycle parts, as well as initiatives that promote rider safety, welfare, and recognition as a vital part of the country’s transport and economic system.

The Serbisyo sa Bayan Partylist (SBP) is the only partylist in the 2025 elections focused on consumer rights and protection—including the rights of motorcycle riders—especially relevant in the digital age where online scams and e-commerce-related fraud continue to rise.

Resuello remains active in motorcycle events nationwide, promoting his advocacy and engaging with the riding community. He also mentors fellow riders who want to improve their skills while being mindful of road safety and courtesy.

Currently, around 8,000 new motorcycles are sold daily in the country, contributing to the more than 10 million registered motorcycles and counting.
