A female passenger died while at least seven others were injured when a closed van collided with a passenger jeepney in Quezon City on Saturday morning.
Initial investigation revealed that the jeepney driven by Angel Favrero was hit by a closed van while crossing Tobias Street.
The fatality was identified as Jocelyn Flores, who was pinned after the jeepney fell on its side due to the impact of the collision.
The victims were immediately rushed to the East Avenue Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses said that the closed van was speeding through the street when the accident occurred.
However, Alfredo Gallosa, the driver of the van, insisted that he was in his lane when the jeepney allegedly encroached into it.
Favrero, however, contested Gallosa’s statement and maintained that he was driving in the proper lane when the accident happened.
Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. – With Ria Fernandez/TV5
