A couple of weeks back, we had a great opportunity to take in the sight of a practice session by the champion Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team San Miguel Beermen.
It was hot and humid in the gym that day, but the team soldiered on through a three-hour grind. The coaching staff, led by PBA great Leo Austria, were on top of the scrimmage and playmaking – barking out orders and words of motivation.
Standing tall even in this sea of skyscrapers was June Mar Fajardo – all of 6”10’ and about 250 pounds. We watched the seven-time PBA champion and five-time regular-season all-star keenly as he went about the drills. He spun, he guarded, he made layups, and even heaved a three-pointer (it went in) with a defender in his face.
Wheels.phhad a long-awaited appointment with “The Kraken,” and we were excited to show him his “blind date” for the day – an all-new BMW X5. Not only did we show him the vehicle, we made him drive it.
