Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 wins the 24 Hours of Spa

Lamborghini starts a new chapter in its history by winning the 24 Hours of Spa for the first time.

The Grasser Racing Team dominated the this year’s iconic Belgian endurance race series with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2. The win follows three consecutive class wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona (2018, 2019 and 2020), and two top finishes in the 12 Hours of Sebring (2018 and 2019).

The win at the 24 Hours of Spa was Lamborghini’s 191st in the GT3 era and signals the launch of the Huracán’s successorthe Temerario GT3, to be presented at the Goodwood Fesitval of Speed in England later this month.

The breakthrough success was sealed by factory drivers Luca Engstler, Jordan Pepper, and Mirko Bortolotti, the 2024 DTM drivers’ champion who brought the winning No. 63 Huracán GT3 EVO2 to the chequered flag.

Starting from the 10th row of the grid, Bortolotti immediately improved two places before handing over driving duties to Pepper and Engstler. As night fell, the No. 63 trio moved toward the front of the pack to successfully manage a race that demonstrated the full potential of the Huracán GT3 EVO2 car.

Bortolotti overcame setbacks late into the race to score Lamborghini’s win by over eight seconds at the finish line.

Lamborghini posted on social media a teaser of the upcoming Temerario GT3 before the start of the race.

The race car is based on the Temerario production supercar, unveiled last year and which follows the Revuelto as Sant’Agata Bolognese’s second High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) model.

In the Temerario, Lamborghini supplemented a newly developed twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 combustion engine that revs up to 10,000 rpm with three electric motors. One of the electric motors is placed between the engine and the 8-speed gearbox while the two others are located on the front axle, creating an all-wheel drive system.

The plug-in hybrid power plant delivers a combined output of 920 hp and 730 Nm of torque. This allows the Temerario to accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of over 340 km/h.

With this, Lamborghini merged the emotive character of a combustion engine with a performance-oriented focus on electrification– and on winning more races.
