Geely PH looks to regain its place in the rankings with Okavango Elite and all-new EX5 EV

Months after the Geely Philippines officially set foot in the Philippines, they officially launch their first model in the post-Sojitz era. The Geely EX5 is a compact battery-EV SUV that was built on their new Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture platform. It’s accompanied by the updated Okavango Elite that is now priced lower.

Geely EX5

The Geely EX5 is unlike any Geely before it, and rightfully so. The first EV SUV features a new design language that’s more minimalist than what we’ve seen with the Coolray. The sleek look is accompanied by modern amenities like all-LED lighting, a light bar at the rear, power tailgate, flush door handles, and a panoramic sunroof.

It measures 4,615mm long, 1,901mm wide, and 1,670mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,750mm making it bigger than the BYD Atto 3. It also sits taller with its 173mm of ground clearance.

Powering the EX5 is a single electric motor that puts out 215 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. It can go from 0-100 kph in 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 170 km/h and a range of 430 km.

Inside, the cabin is clad in all black upholstery with a modern layout. It has a panoramic 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, a 15.4-inch touchscreen at the center of the dash, 16-speaker FLYME Sound System, a racing-inspired steering wheel, and a high center console with a rotary shift knob and wireless charger.

The Geely EX5 is available in Moonlight Silver, Carbon Black, Snowy White, Frosty Gray, and Turquoise Green. It will have two variants—Pro and Max—with the latter priced at PHP 1,799,000. The Pro model’s pricing shall be announced at a later time.

Geely Okavango Elite

Geely’s first 7-seater in the country was given a slight refresh this time. It has a new grille with vertical slats, a new stitching on the seats, and the instrument cluster was given a new look. Aside from that, it retains the mild hybrid technology that ekes out 190 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. It’s available in Black, Gray, and White with only one variant this time priced at PHP 1,368,000.

Geely also has limited offers for their lineup. The EX5 can be had for PHP 110,000 less and will come with a Meizu smartphone. The Coolray is also PHP 70,000 off while the Emgrand is PHP 40,000 less. Again, these are limited offers only.
