Chery PH posts 47.5% year-over-year growth amid rising demand for electrified cars

Amid a challenging period for the Philippine automotive industry, Chery Auto Philippines continues to demonstrate strong market momentum, recording a 47.5% year-over-year growth as consumers increasingly shift toward fuel-efficient mobility solutions.

The strong year-over-year result was driven by the brand’s January to April 2026 performance, reflecting sustained demand for Chery’s popular 7-seater SUV, the Chery Tiggo rEV. As the Chery brand continues to expand its journey in the Philippines, it remains focused on making intelligent and efficient mobility more accessible to Filipino families.

The latest January to April 2026 CAMPI-TMA industry report shows that Chery Auto Philippines emerged as one of the market’s high-growth performers, benefiting from its strategic focus on plug-in hybrid vehicle technology that directly addresses consumers’ growing demand for fuel-efficient transportation.     

Leading the brand’s performance is the Chery Tiggo rEV, which accounted for 57% of Chery’s total year-to-date sales. The Tiggo rEV’s strong reception highlights the increasing preference among Filipino motorists for alternative energy vehicles amid continued fuel price volatility.

“The current market environment has accelerated consumer interest in practical, value-driven mobility solutions,” Chery Auto Philippines Brand Head Franz Decloedt said. 

The current industry landscape has also reinforced the growing competitiveness of emerging automotive brands that offer high-value products and alternative energy solutions. Consumers are becoming more fuel-conscious and are prioritizing vehicles that deliver lower operating costs and better overall efficiency.

“As fuel prices remain elevated, more customers are recognizing the long-term benefits of hybrid and electric vehicles, and the Chery Tiggo rEV has become a compelling option for Filipino families seeking efficiency without compromising comfort and technology,” UAAGI Deputy Director Joshua Sytin said.

Further strengthening its global presence, Chery recently participated in the Beijing Auto Show, where the brand gathered around 3,000 Chery delegates from markets around the world, representatives that included media and dealer partners from the Chery Philippine market. 

Globally, the Chery brand continues to expand its new energy vehicle portfolio with the addition of upcoming models such as the Chery Q BEV and the Chery Tiggo V, alongside other future NEVs designed to meet the evolving mobility needs of its consumers.
