AC Motors flaunts EV portfolio at 11th PEVS, previews BYD Atto 3

AC Motors is helping with the transition to EVs here in the Philippines. Earlier this year they brought in the Kia EV6, and a few months ago they gained the rights to distribute BYD vehicles in the country, with the first dealership having already inaugurated last month.

At the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), they displayed a show of electrified power by spotlighting key vehicles in their electrified portfolio, as well as previewing the new BYD Atto 3.

BYD Dolphin

BYD Philippines has adjusted the pricing for their most affordable EV. The Dolphin is now at PHP 1,398,000 and will come with a CCS Type 2 charger, which is more prevalent here in the country making it easier to use in the existing charging infrastructures. It also has a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature that allows it to become a power source for devices.

The BYD Dolphin is a 5-seater hatchback that can go up to 400 kilometers on a single charge. It’s also fitted with leather upholstery, a rotating 12.8-inch touchscreen, 6-speaker system, Tire Pressure Monitoring, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, and Traction Control System, among others.

BYD Atto 3 preview

AC Motors also unveiled the upcoming Atto 3. This compact crossover measures 4,455mm long and 1,875mm wide, making it larger than the Honda HR-V but still a tad smaller than the Ford Territory.

Just like the Dolphin, the Atto 3 will come with a CCS2 charging connector and will be capable of a 480-km range on a single charge. There are no final specs yet for this crossover EV but if it is to be based from the international model, it may come with a rotating touchscreen infotainment system like the Dolphin, as well as an Advanced Driver Assist System. No pricing was revealed yet for the Atto 3.

Kia EV6

Sitting alongside the new Atto 3 is AC Motor’s first EV in the Philippines, the Kia EV6. This sleek EV hatchback continues to catch attention with its stunning front end that has an Intelligent Front Lighting System. It has an output of 229ps and 350Nm of torque that can reach 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Range is also formidable at 528 kilometers on a single charge.

Inside there’s a 12.3-inch panoramic curved display for the gauge cluster, as well as a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Meridian 14-speaker Surround Sound system. It’s also kitted well with safety bits like Smart Cruise Control, Blind View Monitor, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist. The Kia EV6 is still priced at PHP 3,788,000.
