With sporty looks to match its top speed of up to 90km/h and an introductory price from PHP 73,900, the VinFast Viper is taking aim at the Philippines’ best-selling 125cc scooters.
The Philippine motorcycle market has no shortage of household names. Legacy gas-powered scooters have long dominated city streets, setting the benchmark for anyone looking to buy a daily commuter.
Now, VinFast is stepping into the arena with the Viper, an electric motorcycle designed to offer familiar sporty styling while introducing a different ownership experience through battery swapping and flexible purchase options.
Here are three reasons why the Viper can be your next commuter.
Sporty performance without the try-hard exterior
One thing stands out immediately about the VinFast Viper: it doesn’t scream “electric motorcycle.”
Instead of futuristic styling, the Viper adopts the aggressive proportions and muscular stance more commonly associated with sporty 125cc motorcycles that Filipinos have come to love. It comes equipped with a 5,200W BLDC in-wheel motor capable of reaching speeds of up to 90km/h, making it suitable for both urban commuting and faster city roads.
It also has many nice-to-have features such as a TFT instrument display, a Smart Key system with remote locating and tracking functions, projector headlamps, and dual rear shock absorbers with external reservoirs, features more commonly associated with higher-end motorcycles.
With space for two removable LFP batteries under the seat, the Viper can travel up to 150km under standard conditions, giving riders enough range for several days of typical city commuting before needing to recharge or swap batteries.
Drive confidently with battery swapping
Charging is often the biggest question for many riders considering an electric motorcycle for the first time.
VinFast addresses that with a battery-swapping ecosystem that gives owners two ways to keep riding. Subscribers can swap depleted batteries at V-Green’s battery-swapping stations, or simply remove the batteries and recharge them at home using a standard household outlet.
Each battery swap costs just PHP 35, while customers enrolled in the battery subscription program can also take advantage of VinFast’s introductory promotion. Those who subscribe on or before July 31, 2026, receive a free subscription for one battery during the first 12 months, along with up to 20 free battery swaps every month during the promotional period. That’s at least 800km of driving, assuming a conservative 40km per swap.
VinFast’s charging partner, V-Green, also plans to roll out around 30,000 battery-swapping stations across the Philippines, with the initial deployment beginning through VinFast dealerships before expanding nationwide. The company has not announced a completion timeline.
No extra cost to switch
Under the battery subscription model, the VinFast Viper starts at just PHP 73,900, putting it right in the heart of the Philippines’ highly competitive 125cc scooter segment. That’s on par with, and in some cases below, the starting prices of the country’s leading gasoline-powered 125cc scooters.
For riders who prefer to own the battery outright, the Viper is available at PHP 86,600 with one battery or PHP 99,300 with two batteries. Those opting for the battery subscription model pay a monthly fee of PHP 439 for one battery or PHP 799 for two batteries, while enjoying access to VinFast’s battery-swapping network.
During the Early Booking Program, which ended onJuly 18, customers who reserved a Viper received incentives worth PHP 5,600. This pricing strategy means Filipino riders are no longer choosing between an affordable gasoline scooter and a significantly more expensive electric alternative. Instead, they’re comparing two products with similar upfront costs, while the Viper adds battery swapping, connected features, and lower running costs to the equation, thanks to its electric powertrain.
