Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), through private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), turned over an electric vehicle (EV) fleet and fast-charging infrastructure to the Provincial Government of Bataan in support of its Libreng Sakay Program.
Handed over at the Vista Mall Balanga on September 30, 2026, the donation aims to help provide Bataeños with an accessible, low-carbon commute while also modernizing the province’s public service delivery.
The deployment features two 8-meter, 33-seater EV buses intended primarily to transport the province’s scholars. To assist students living far from the capital, the buses will service routes connecting Mariveles, Morong, Bagac, and Dinalupihan directly to the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) in Balanga. The turnover also includes a 14-seater passenger van, a 7-seater multi-purpose vehicle, and an 80-kilowatt fast-charging facility. Maintenance of the newly acquired vehicles will be managed by the provincial government.
This initiative contributes to the province’s sustainable mobility roadmap under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) Project Transform, a science-based program intended to strengthen resilience against climate change.
“The strongest partnerships are built not by a single project but by a shared advocacy to create opportunities for people,” said AboitizPower Transition Business Group (TBG) President Celso C. Caballero III. “We are proud to stand alongside the Provincial Government of Bataan in advancing initiatives with lasting value for the community.”
Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia warmly accepted the fleet on behalf of the province, highlighting the power of local collaboration.
“Salamat po sa AboitizPower, sa inyong pagsuporta sa mga programa namin dito sa lalawigan ng Bataan. Hindi po namin magagawa ito kung hindi dahil sa mga partners na katulad ninyo,” he said. (Thank you AboitizPower for supporting our programs here in Bataan. We cannot do this without partners like you.)
“Kayo po ay kapirmahan namin sa Project Transform ng DENR, and there are many components of this project, kasama po ang electric mobility. We look forward to working with AboitizPower for more fruitful projects for our people,” he added. (We are signatories to the DENR’s Project Transform, and there are many components of this project, including electric mobility.)
This initiative represents a key milestone in Bataan’s transition toward lower-emissions and more efficient public services. By bringing electric vehicles to the local community, AboitizPower is Transforming Energy for a Better World, empowering local communities to experience a piece of the energy transition through local solutions.
