Mitsubishi trains its Strada to be an elite Athlete

Just like in the world of sports, Mitsubishi Motors Philippine Corporation (MMPC) has been training its pickup truck hard, making sure that it will be worthy of being called a true athlete. And now Mitsubishi is ready to unleash it on its competition. This new sport truck is called the Strada Athlete.

Intimidating style

First, the physique: The powerful and high-endurance new pickup now carries a tougher and sportier aesthetic design with a bold blacked out interpretation of Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design language, which includes a black front bumper garnish, 18-inch black alloy wheels, blacked-out roof, styling bar and side decal accents that are matched with a luxurious two-tone interior finish.

These enhancements provide a bolder, sportier, and tougher attitude for the Strada nameplate that will resonate with pickup enthusiasts.

40 years of truck engineering heritage

“We are very excited to introduce the Strada Athlete here in the Philippines. It’s robust and sporty design best represents the capabilities of our truck. With 40 years of truck engineering heritage, the Strada has been refined to become a well-balanced road warrior that does not only conquer rough terrains but also provides advance technology, comfort and safety to its driver and passenger,” shares Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation.

A world champion ambassador

Together with the Strada Athlete’s tagline, “Unleash the Athlete” Mitsubishi Motors Philippines also introduces the current ONE Heavyweight Champion, Brandon Vera, as its brand ambassador.

“For us, Brandon Vera best represents the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete as his characteristics reflects the very definition of a true athlete. Apart from being a successful world champion in mixed martial arts, Brandon is considered a role model by many followers of the sport because of his discipline, attitude and dedication to be the best version of himself. Like the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete, the newly enhanced pick up variant of Mitsubishi Motors is designed to contend with the very best trucks available in the market. The Strada Athlete has an exterior design that exudes commanding presence and is equipped with features that are geared to provide overwhelming power, utmost comfort, safety and reliable overall performance – making the Strada Athlete a versatile champion,” says Mark Parulan, MMPC’s Brand Communications Department Head.

Power and strength

The Mitsubishi Strada Athlete is equipped with a cutting-edge 2.4-liter MIVEC Turbo Clean Diesel engine that produces 181ps and 430nm of torque. This powerplant is matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Super Select 4WD II system that allows you to choose from four driving modes on the fly.

Versatility and comfort on the inside game

The Strada Athlete flaunts two-tone black-and-orange leather seats with orange stitching accents on its seats, gear shift panel and floor center console that further exude the sporty look and feel inside. With the passengers’ comfort in mind, the cabin carries a clever J-line design to maximize interior space – giving the second-row occupants better legroom. In addition to all these, the Strada Athlete is also equipped with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and cruise control to help lessen driver fatigue during long drives.

Smart safety on the field

The Strada Athlete is not just about brute strength and durability. It’s also built to prioritize the safety of its driver and passengers. The engineers of Mitsubishi Motors ensured to equip the following safety features to provide peace of mind while traversing various driving and road conditions:

  • Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM)
  • Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist (BSW with LCA)
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
  • Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS)
  • Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control (M-ASTC)
  • Trailer Stability Assist
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Multi Around Monitor with guiding and expected course line
  • Auto High Beam
  • Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body.

Colorful personality

The new Strada Athlete comes in 3 colors—Sunflare Orange Pearl (exclusive to the Athlete), White Diamond, and Graphite Gray Metallic—and in 4×2 and 4×4 variants.

Price are P1,443,000 for the Strada Athlete 4×2 and P1,760,000 for the Strada Athlete 4×4.
