TRB approves provisional toll rates for Skyway 3

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) recently approved the provisional toll rates for the 18-kilometer Skyway Stage 3, which links the North and South Luzon expressways.

In a press release, the TRB said that owners of class 1 vehicles who will use the Skyway Stage 3 from Buendia to Sta. Mesa will have to shell out P105, while those coming from Sta. Mesa to Ramon Magsaysay will have to pay P30.

Motorists who will travel from Ramon Magsaysay to NLEX Balintawak will have to pay P129 while the entire stretch of the elevated expressway from Buendia to NLEX Balintawak will cost P264.

Meanwhile, the toll fees for class 2 vehicles are doubled while motorists with class 3 vehicles will have to pay thrice the price paid by class 1 vehicles.

However, the TRB clarified that although the above-mentioned provisional toll rates for the Skyway 3 have been approved, it does not mean that SMC can immediately start collecting fees for the tollway.

“It does not necessarily mean that they have been given the approval on the rates that they can automatically collect,” TRB spokesman Julius Corpus told The STAR.

“These may be the initial provisional rates that they may be authorized to collect once they are given notice to start collection. Until then, they still cannot collect,” he added.

SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang earlier said that Skyway 3’s losses “have been mounting” because of the delay in the start of toll collection.
