After taking care of the top end of their lineup with the Sealion 7, BYD is once again refreshing their offerings for the budget conscious. Not only have they brought in a new look for their Seal 5 DM-i sedan, they also launched a new entry-level crossover in the Atto 2. It even comes in 2 forms – DM-i hybrid and full EV. See them at the BYD Tech Tour in Trinoma until August 2 or at your nearest BYD dealership.
Seal 5 DM-i
The BYD Seal 5 DM-i received a refreshed look that brought it closer to the aesthetic of the Sealion 6, giving it a more modern and sophisticated appeal. While its overall size remains largely unchanged, the new model is now 20 mm wider, lending it a slightly more planted stance.
It will be offered in two variants—Essential and Dynamic—both equipped with Automatic LED lighting, while the range-topping Dynamic further adds Power-Folding Side Mirrors to complement its power-adjustable mirrors.
Performance also gets a refresh as the Seal 5 DM-i now comes standard with a 163 PS and 210 Nm of torque. Paired with a 7.42-kWh Blade Battery, the sedan delivers up to 55 kilometers of pure electric driving and a claimed combined driving range of around 1,600 kilometers. To make charging more convenient, BYD includes both a portable charger and a wall-mounted charger with every unit.
Inside, buyers have premium fabric upholstery while all models feature an 8.8-inch Digital Instrument Cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Automatic Climate Control, and Rear Air Vents. Other standard amenities include a 4-speaker audio system, Speed-Sensing Door Locks, USB Type-A and Type-C ports, Keyless entry, a Rear Camera, 4 Rear Parking Sensors, Cruise Control, Hill Hold Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring, Vehicle Dynamic Control, and a Comfort Braking function. Safety is further reinforced with Front Airbags across the range, while the Dynamic adds Side airbags and an NFC card for keyless access. A tire repair kit rounds out the standard equipment.
Atto 2 DM-i
BYD is broadening its crossover lineup with the introduction of the all-new Atto 2 DM-i. Despite being positioned as the gateway to BYD’s crossover range, the Atto 2 DM-i is actually larger than the Dolphin hatchback, measuring 4,330 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,675 mm tall, with a 2,620-mm wheelbase. It will be available in two variants: Dynamic and Premium.
The Atto 2 DM-i adopts a fascia reminiscent of the all-electric Atto 3 while around the back, its styling draws inspiration from the larger Tang DM-i. The luggage compartment offers 433 liters of cargo space with the rear seats in place, expanding to as much as 1,335 liters when the second-row seats are folded flat.
Powering both the Dynamic and Premium variants is a plug-in hybrid system that produces 165 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Energy is supplied by a 7.9-kWh Blade Battery, allowing the Atto 2 DM-i to travel up to 45 kilometers on electric power alone and a combined driving range of up to 1,045 kilometers. Unlike some of the brand’s larger electrified models, however, the Atto 2 DM-i does not feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.
The cabin focuses on comfort and everyday usability, with both variants equipped with fabric seats, an 8.8-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, Automatic Climate Control, Rear Air vents, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 6-speaker audio system, and USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports.
The primary difference between the two trims lies in the infotainment display. The Dynamic comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, while the Premium upgrades to a larger 12.8-inch display, offering a more immersive interface for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle functions.
Standard safety equipment includes Speed-Sensing Door Locks, a Rear Camera, 4 Rear Parking Sensors, and Cruise Control, providing essential convenience and confidence for everyday driving.
Stepping up to the Premium variant brings a more comprehensive suite of technologies. It adds a 360-degree Surround-View camera, 6 Parking Sensors, Adaptive Cruise Control, and BYD’s DiPilot Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), giving the range-topping model enhanced capability for highway driving and added peace of mind behind the wheel.
Atto 2 EV
For those ready to make the leap to fully electric mobility, BYD also offers the Atto 3 EV. It delivers 177 PS and 290 Nm of torque for smooth, instant acceleration. Its 45.1-kWh Blade Battery provides a driving range of up to 380 kilometers on a full charge.
The Atto 3 EV also packs a few conveniences unique to battery-electric vehicles. It comes equipped with BYD’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology and the necessary adapter, allowing the vehicle to power external appliances and electronic devices directly from its battery. Whether it’s for camping trips, outdoor events, or emergency backup power, the feature adds another layer of versatility beyond transportation.
Inside, the crossover offers a more premium ambiance with leather upholstery, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and BYD’s signature 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen that supports both landscape and portrait orientations. Power-folding side mirrors add everyday convenience, while safety is enhanced by a 360-degree camera system, six parking sensors, and standard cruise control.Together, these features make the Atto 3 EV an attractive option for buyers seeking an all-electric crossover without sacrificing comfort or practicality.
The BYD Seal 5 DM-i starts at PHP 948,000 for the Essential while the Dynamic is at PHP 1,048,000. Meanwhile, the Atto 2 Dynamic is at PHP 1,048,000, the Premium at PHP 1,258,000 and the Atto 2 EV’s sole variant is priced at PHP 1,338,000. Their introductory offer slashes PHP 50,000 off until August 31, 2026.
