Everything is ready for the 44th edition of the 1000 Miglia, the famous regularity race for historic cars reserved for models that took part in the original speed race or were produced during the same period, between 1927 and 1957. Scheduled from 9 to 13 June along the classic Brescia-Rome-Brescia route, the event will take crews and enthusiasts on a journey through some of Italy’s most evocative locations.
Maserati will take centre stage at the 2026 edition with one of the most representative cars in its racing legacy – a 1953 Maserati A6 GCS/53, already deeply connected to the history of the original 1000 Miglia speed race. The car will be technically managed with the official support of Maserati Classiche and behind the wheel will be its owner, Igor Zanisi, a profound connoisseur and passionate custodian of the Maserati brand, together with his daughter Lara, in a story that intertwines authentic passion, family memory and a deep bond with the Trident. Lara’s presence further enhances the tribute that Maserati and the Zanisi family are paying to Maria Teresa de Filippis (1926–2016) on the centenary of her birth. A close friend of Igor Zanisi and a key figure in Maserati’s history, De Filippis was the first woman to qualify for and compete in a Formula 1 Grand Prix – the 1958 Belgian Grand Prix – at the wheel of a Maserati 250F. Her name remains synonymous with courage and determination, values that Lara’s presence naturally brings to mind, creating an ideal link between different generations united by the same passion for the Trident Brand.
The Maserati A6 GCS/53 taking part in the event, chassis no. 2043, competed in five consecutive editions of the original speed race, from 1953 to 1957, including the final one. It is most likely the Maserati with the highest number of appearances in the historic competition. Also known as the Sport 2000, it boasts one of the longest racing careers of its era and was driven by a number of highly talented drivers, including Luigi Musso. Not simply a masterpiece to be admired, but a true Trident racing car, still capable of stirring emotions and setting hearts racing. Currently undergoing Certification of Authenticity by Maserati Classiche, the A6 GCS/53 will be supported during the competition by the official programme dedicated to protecting and enhancing the Brand’s historic heritage. This commitment confirms the role of Maserati Classiche in preserving cars that transcend time and national borders.

Alongside the stunning A6 GCS/53, the Brand will also bring four models from its current range along the route as Support Cars: GranTurismo Modena, GranTurismo Trofeo, GranCabrio Modena and GranCabrio Trofeo. On board, crews made up of European media representatives and content creators will take turns, helping to tell the story of the 1000 Miglia from a contemporary perspective and creating an ideal bridge between the Trident’s racing history and its current vision of performance and elegance. The models will be enhanced by four exclusive liveries, each inspired by an iconic model from Maserati history – Tipo 26, A6 1500, 250F and 3500 GT – and by the Trident logo that distinguished them at the time. Four evocative interpretations that celebrate the Brand’s stylistic and technical heritage and transform the current range into a tribute to the history of the Trident.
Always part race and part adventure, the historical re-enactment of “the most beautiful race in the world”, as Enzo Ferrari famously called it, will this year bring together more than 400 pricelesscars from 29 countries, taking on the legendary route of around 1,900 kilometers. The “figure-eight” route, inspired by the first twelve speed editions, has been confirmed and will feature almost 140 timed trials. Along the way, crews will cross some of the most evocative landscapes on the peninsula, including cities of art, mountain passes, and UNESCO World Heritage sites and locations. Particularly significant will be the passage through Modena, scheduled during the second leg on Wednesday 10 June. As the beating heart of the Motor Valley and the birthplace of Trident cars, past and present, Modena is where the history of the longest-standing brand in this world-famous region continues to be written.
Maserati’s participation in the 1000 Miglia therefore marks another milestone in the celebrations for the Year of the Trident, the programme of events and activities dedicated to the first one hundred years of the iconic logo and of Maserati’s first racing victory. It was on 25 April 1926 that Alfieri Maserati, at the wheel of the legendary Tipo 26, claimed first place in class and eighth overall, marking the beginning of a racing tradition that has helped define the very identity of the Brand. A symbol that made its debut in that very competition and therefore tells the story of the origins, ambition and legacy of a Brand born to compete and win, on the road and on the track.
