VinFast’s PHP1.239M VF MPV 7 proves EV family mobility doesn’t have to break the bank

Nha Trang, Vietnam—As electric vehicles continue to gain traction in the Philippines, VinFast is making one of its boldest moves yet with the launch of the new VF MPV 7. Positioned as an affordable, fully electric 7-seater family vehicle, the Vietnamese automaker is betting that Filipino families are ready to make the transition from conventional MPVs to battery-powered mobility.

After spending time behind the wheel of the VF MPV 7 in Nha Trang, Vietnam last week, it became clear that this isn’t simply an electric alternative to established people movers. More importantly, it is a surprisingly refined and well-executed family vehicle that delivers comfort, practicality, and driving refinement beyond what its price point might suggest.

A strong first impression

The VF MPV 7 stands out with its substantial dimensions. Measuring 4,740 mm long, 1,872 mm wide, and 1,734 mm tall, it occupies a significant footprint on the road.  Its 2,840 mm wheelbase stretches the cabin and gives the vehicle a planted stance, while VinFast’s signature V-shaped LED daytime running lights and large 19-inch alloy wheels lend it a contemporary and upscale appearance.

Build quality is one of the vehicle’s biggest surprises. Panel gaps are consistent, exterior fit and finish feel solid, and the overall execution gives the impression of a product developed with global markets in mind. The attention to detail continues inside, where material quality and assembly are noticeably better than expected for a vehicle in this price range.

Spacious cabin designed for families

The VF MPV 7’s greatest strength may well be its interior packaging. Thanks to its long wheelbase and dedicated EV architecture, cabin space is abundant across all three rows. Unlike many 7-seaters where the third row is treated as an afterthought, adults can sit comfortably in the rear seats, aided by the theater-style seating arrangement that provides better forward visibility for the rear passengers.

Headroom and legroom are generous throughout the cabin, creating an airy environment that should appeal to large families and those who regularly travel with multiple passengers.

Practicality is equally impressive. Cargo capacity expands to as much as 1,240 liters, making the VF MPV 7 capable of handling everything from weekly grocery runs to out-of-town family vacations. A centrally mounted 10.1-inch touchscreen manages infotainment functions and contributes to the cabin’s clean, modern design.

Surprisingly refined on the road

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the VF MPV 7 is how refined it feels once underway.

Electric vehicles are naturally quieter than their internal combustion counterparts, but VinFast has done an admirable job minimizing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels. Road noise is well suppressed, wind intrusion is minimal, and the cabin remains remarkably quiet even at highway speeds.

The result is a driving experience that feels more premium than expected. Conversations between occupants are effortless, and long journeys become significantly more relaxing thanks to the serene cabin environment.

Ride quality is another highlight. The suspension effectively absorbs road imperfections, delivering a comfortable and composed ride even over less-than-perfect road surfaces. Whether navigating urban streets or cruising on expressways, the VF MPV 7 maintains a smooth and settled demeanor that family buyers will appreciate.

Solid performance for everyday driving

Power comes from a single electric motor producing 150kW and 280Nm of torque, fed by a 60.13-kWh battery pack. While outright performance isn’t the VF MPV 7’s primary mission, it delivers more than enough power for daily driving duties. Acceleration is smooth and responsive, benefiting from the instant torque characteristics inherent to electric vehicles. Merging onto highways and overtaking slower traffic can be accomplished confidently, while city driving feels effortless.

The powertrain’s refinement complements the vehicle’s overall character. Rather than emphasizing sporty driving dynamics, the VF MPV 7 prioritizes smoothness, predictability,

and comfort—exactly what most family buyers are looking for in a people mover.

On a full charge, the battery offers a claimed range of up to 450 kilometers under NEDC testing standards. Fast-charging capability allows charging from 10 to 70 percent in around 30 minutes, making longer journeys more manageable.

Competitive ownership proposition

VinFast’s aggressive pricing strategy further strengthens the VF MPV 7’s appeal.

The battery-included version is priced at PHP 1,518,000, while buyers can opt for a battery subscription model priced at just PHP 1,239,000. Subscription fees are set at PHP 2,700 monthly for usage up to 2,000 kilometers and PHP 4,150 for higher-mileage users. Ownership costs are further reduced through VinFast’s free charging program at V-Green charging stations across the Philippines until March 2029. The company also backs the vehicle with a 7-year/160,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and a 10-year or 200,000-kilometer battery warranty, among the most comprehensive packages currently available in the segment.

The VF MPV 7 enters one of the Philippines’ most competitive vehicle segments with a compelling formula. It delivers the practicality and versatility families expect from an MPV while introducing the benefits of electric mobility at an accessible price point. More importantly, it does so without significant compromises.

Its spacious cabin, impressive build quality, low NVH levels, comfortable ride, and surprisingly refined driving experience make it a genuinely attractive option even before considering its electric powertrain.

For Filipino families looking to make the transition to electric mobility, the VinFast VF MPV 7 presents itself as more than just a budget-friendly EV. It’s a well-rounded family vehicle that demonstrates how far the brand has progressed in a relatively short time.

If this first drive is any indication, VinFast may have found a winning formula for bringing electric family transportation into the mainstream Philippine market.
