Aprilia SR GT 200 Italian scooter now available

For Filipinos, the Aprilia brand is almost synonymous to sport bikes and machines that are built for speed. However, the Italian motorcycle maker offers more than just that in the form of scooters.

MotoItalia, the exclusive distributor of Vespa scooters under the Autohub Group, is proud to announce that the Aprilia SR GT 200 is now officially available in the Philippines. Made for in-city commutes, long rides, and even the less traveled roads, the Aprilia SR GT enters the popular maxi-scooter segment at a competitive price point.

Showcased at the recently concluded Inside Racing Bike Festival and Trade Show, the Aprilia SR GT 200 comes with the typical maxi-scooter styling. It comes with the full LED three-element light cluster plus a center tunnel that houses the fuel tank. Its capability to go off-road is obvious even at first glance, represented by a 175mm ground clearance, a suspended windscreen, and a wide, naked handlebar. The expected Aprilia nuances are also apparent, which include the trademark ‘a’ branding on the shields along with sporty design applications. It’s available in these three colors: Aprilia Black, Street Grey, and Infinity Blue.

The sport Aprilia DNA is especially seen on the SR GT 200 Sport variant that comes with typical Aprilia sport bike liveries such as the Street Gold, Iridium Grey and Red Raceway matte color schemes.

The Aprilia SR GT 200 is also relatively compact, measuring 1,920mm long and 765mm wide, with a seat height that measures 799mm. In comparison, it’s a bit shorter than the Yamaha Nmax, albeit a tad wider and has almost the same wheelbase length.

The SR GT’s instrumentation is completely digital, with a big LCD display that displays all vehicle statistics as well as a variety of travel information that can be selected using the MODE button on the left-hand control block. Once a smartphone is connected to the APRILIA MIA connectivity system (available upon request), the instrument panel will also display notifications for incoming calls and texts if the phone is linked to the vehicle through Bluetooth. The system also allows for call management via the dedicated connectivity button on the right-hand control block, as well as the use of voice commands to make calls or play music via a playlist.

As for the suspension, the Aprilia SR GT 200 makes use of a Showa fork with 33 mm stanchions and 122 mm of travel at the front, while the rear features two double-acting Showa shock absorbers with coil spring and five-position adjustable preload. Suspension travel amounts to 102mm, which Aprilia touts to be 7 percent more than the competition. Braking is taken care of by hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels, with a single-channel ABS at the front. Wheels are 14 inches at the front, 13 at the bank, wrapped in tubeless tires.

The Aprilia SR GT 200 is powered by a 174 cc single-cylinder engine that makes 13 kW and 16.5 Nm of torque, coming from the 4-stroke i-get engine with Start & Stop system. The Start & Stop system works the same way as it is on cars, automatically switches off the engine 1 to 5 seconds after

the scooter has stopped (depending on whether the engine has reached its correct operating temperature or not).

The Aprilia scooter’s fuel tank can hold up to 9 liters, which, according to the company, can supply the needed juice up to 350 kilometers. Fuel efficiency is rated at 38.5 km/l.

The Aprilia SR GT 200 is priced at P219,000, while the SR GT 200 Sport, with all the sporty elements included, has a sticker price of P227,000. The Italian maxi-scooter comes with a standard 3-year warranty for your peace of mind.
