Fashionably Retro: Yamaha PH launches Mio Fazzio

Modern classic aesthetics have become rampant these days – not only with big displacement bikes but also with smaller ones. Yamaha Philippines wants to capitalize on that resurgence of “neo-retro” design by launching a new variant of the Mio scooter range – the Yamaha Mio Fazzio.

Yamaha obviously wants to tug the heartstrings of its younger customers with the Mio Fazzio’s hip and fashionable vibe. For those in the market for a classic-looking bike, the Mio Fazzio can be your option without breaking the bank.

“The new Mio Fazzio /fätsiō/ is an icon of this generation’s unique expression, embodying Yamaha’s desire to provide a fashionable style. It is given a modern, urban appeal, demonstrating dependability and high-quality mobility for a sophisticated lifestyle. It captures and incorporates colors fundamental to people’s personalities as the manifestation of a next-generation stylish AT,” Yamaha Philippines said in a statement.

While most retro-looking bikes make use of circle shape to amplify the classic appeal, the Mio Fazzio went in a different direction with oval design elements found all over the scooter. These are found on the LED headlights and position lights, the LED taillights, LED turn signals, and even on the LCD digital instrument panel.

Despite looking fashionably retro, the Mio Fazzio comes with modern niceties such as accessory ports, electronic power sockets for smartphone charging, Yamaha’s Motorcycle Connect, and Stop & Start system. The scooter also comes with a set of 12-inch wheels wrapped in tubeless tires.

Practicality-wise, the Mio Fazzio has multiple storage spots up front and under the seat. Speaking of the latter, the under-seat storage comes with 17.8 liters of storage space. There are two double-carabiner hooks found up front and behind the footboard. The scooter also has a seat height of 750mm, so it can cater to shorter riders while wet weight is rated at 95kg.

In terms of power, the Mio Fazzio comes with Yamaha’s 125cc Blue Core Hybrid engine. The single-cylinder, four-stroke air-cooled engine is good for 8.2hp and 9.9Nm of torque, with a wet sump lubrication system and 0.84L engine oil capacity. Apart from the benefits of a smoother ride because of the Smart Motor Generator, the Start-Stop system shut down the engine when idling to save up on fuel. Speaking of which, the fuel tank capacity is 5.1 liters.

Suspension up front is a telescopic fork, while the rear end comes with a unit swing arm. Stopping power comes from a hydraulic disc brake up front with drum brakes at the rear. Unfortunately, no ABS for this cute scooter.

The Yamaha Mio Fazzio comes with a sticker price of P88,900. It’s available in three colors, namely Cyan, Red, and Ivory White.
