MG goes tough with first-ever pickup — The MG TRQ L

MG Motor Philippines yesterday unveiled at the MG Gallery in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City the new MG TRQ L, the brand’s first-ever pickup truck. Promising to deliver the perfect balance of rugged performance and refined comfort, the new TRQ L embodies the character, “The Beast of Both Worlds.”

Built for both work and play, the MG TRQ L combines power and practical features in one tough package. Designed to meet the demands of people with multi-faceted lifestyles, it’s a pickup that’s ready for heavy-duty hauling during the week, as well as adventures with family and friends on weekends.

Under the hood of the MG TRQ L is a 2.0-liter Direct Injection Turbo Diesel Engine, delivering 161ps and 400Nm of torque. Paired with either a ZF 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual, the TRQ L provides smooth and responsive power delivery for a more effortless drive, whether on city streets, open highways, or country roads. The truck’s front double wishbone suspension and rear leaf spring suspension deliver a balanced ride, combining durability, stability, and comfort even under load.

The MG TRQ L also comes with three drive modes—Power, Normal, and Eco—giving drivers the flexibility to adjust performance according to their needs, from fuel efficiency to maximum pulling power. It boasts a 1,055kg payload and 215mm ground clearance, making it capable of handling both heavy loads and challenging terrain.

It’s equipped with all-terrain tires for better grip and stability, while the built-in rollbar adds safety and style. To top off its aggressive yet stylish appearance, the TRQ L comes with a massive front grille, 5-spoke alloy wheels, and door handles all finished in gloss black paint.

Exclusive to the automatic variant are added convenience and design features such as integrated roof rails, side step boards, and fender flares. It also comes with Smart Entry and One Push Start systems—making it even easier to get in, start up, and take off. Both MT and AT variants come with Keyless Entry as standard.

Inside, the TRQ L delivers more than just toughness—it’s built for comfort and convenience. The automatic variant features leather seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat. Rear passengers also enjoy dedicated air-conditioning vents for better comfort on long drives.

Safety and convenience come standard with Dual Front Airbags, Cruise Control, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and a Reverse Camera with Dynamic Guidelines—providing drivers added confidence in every maneuver.

With its combination of strength, style, and smart features, the MG TRQ L is more than just a workhorse, it’s a modern pickup that delivers on any occasion. Whether it’s for business, outdoor trips, or everyday commutes, it delivers the versatility and dependability that Filipino motorists demand.

The new MG TRQ L is available in Warm White, Astral Silver, Metal Black, and Metal Ash Gray, with Scarlet Red offered exclusively for the Automatic variant.
